Man City Charges

It had to be a fraud for them to spend the owners money on transfers just as we did before the PL put a stop to it. If the PL ever thought that it would happen before it actually did with Chelsea, they would have put regulations in place earlier, it would have prevented us winning the trophies we actually did.
I'm glad we were able to do it, and City shouldn't have been prevented from doing exactly what we did .
This mess is all the making of the PL , they've f**ked everything up just to protect the top teams from upstarts crashing into their cosy club

The rules were there for a reason, because clubs like Leeds almost went out of business. We almost went out of business ourselves but were fortunate Roman bought us. If he had decided to go for Tottenham, or we hadn't beaten Liverpool on the final day of the season, I am pretty certain we would have gone the way of Leeds.

But regardless of whether the rules are fair or not, they are the rules. And City committed fraud in breaking them.

Don't know what all the fuss is about. All their income was totally above board and commercial.

Their books show the legitimate sale of this half time burger for £250m to Sheikh 'n' Stevens

Apart from Spurs, the clubs that the restrictive financial rules were designed to protect have been prepared since 2024 for this day

"'Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal preserved their right to seek compensation from Manchester City after the club was found guilty of 114 financial charges.
In the wake of Manchester City being found guilty on 114 financial charges following an independent Premier League commission, details have resurfaced on how top-flight rivals protected their rights to legal restitution. Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur lodged formal legal notices back in November 2024 to reserve the right to seek compensation if City were found guilty."

The purpose of these schemes was found to have been to artificially inflate the club’s revenues, and reduce its costs, by more than £900 million during the affected period, to appear to comply with financial rules. The consequence of this, as the Commission found, was that the club filed misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances from its auditors and football regulators. The Commission concluded that ‘by its conduct the club clearly intended to circumvent the PL Rules‘.
That is so damning, and yet some people genuinely think a two‑year transfer ban would settle the matter.

ESPNUK is now reporting City knew the guilty verdict was landing this summer, which just happens to neatly line up with Pep’s departure and their frantic spending. Pep is such a slime ball.

Relegation, deductions, title stripping, etc. should be secondary matters, as I don't see how the people that own that club can be allowed to stay in this country's football system. They must leave. And if they won't sell up, make their asset worthless.

Also LOL at the legacy clubs wanting compensation. Of course they are the ones most vocal about it.

For the jokes about the "Russian maffia" running us, or whatever is said about city. Spurs, United, Arsenal and Liverpool have been the English cartel for decades. They ain't whiter than white.

Just as I was thinking the Prem would sit on this. Inflated financial records by over £900m, that is a crazy number.

Reading that statement, you can tell that the Premier League are viewing this as about as severe a breach as you can get. I would be shocked if the punishment is something they can quickly bounce back from.

Spuds? They wish they were that important :laugh2:

I never even considered Tottenham to be part of the big 6 in the Premier League. Even before Abramovich's money, we were competing higher up the league than them.

Found this snippet doing the rounds.

NewCity recorded £360m in sponsor fees in the three seasons they won the Premier League - 2011-12, 2013-14, and 2017-18. Only £43m of it was legitimate - the rest came from their owners and was disguised.

That's absolutely mind-blowing

This is not only financial doping but it is actually displaying complete disregard and contempt for the lawmakers.
Booking £120m year on year for 3 years for sponsorship is ripping the horns off it to a whole new level.

I can still remember all the people in the Daily Mail, Guardian etc. comment sections from 12-13 years ago everytime City was reporting their revenues and new money coming from sponsors. Everybody was calling them out for inflating those numbers way too much, they were making as much or even more than Real Madrid who is the ultimate money making machine in world football.

Almost 1B in inflated financial records. Crazy.

These people at city have no regard for the game they have totally disregarded all sense of competition or any sense of normal achievement. Very proud people however, would never want to lose face..er good luck with that one, eak.
Their arrogance in the manner in which they are dealing with this speaks volumes.

Should see the blue moon and City forums, absolute different reality the lot of them, pure arrogance and delusion.

Let’s hope their punishment is swift and decisive. Which ever way you look it this is not good for the game

Personally I don’t want second hand trophies, pointless however their fine needs to be handed to those clubs who maybe missed out on Europe for an example

Sorry, afair.

What ever you think of Roman maybe his wealth was immoral ? I don’t know. Apart from the agent back handers he ran the club well. I remember his mantra was investment to make us the best then we had to become self financing. Which arguably that was achieved. There was a number of transfer windows were we made a profit

Ha, Roy Keane sticking the boot in. If i had won those medals I would be sticking them in the bin 😀

The faux outrage from the media journos is hilarious. Henry Winter's outrage us palpable, saliva virtually running down his chin.

I'm not making light of the severity of the situation but this fetishism of the english press to pile in like hyenas on a carcass does make me think that the other European leagues are over the moon watching our press and news outlets forcing our entire PL in its current guise to the brink of possible destruction. La Liga must be cock a hoop watching firstly Serie A self destruct and now the EPL possibly following a similar path.

If only City had found some financial levers to pull, or if only the King was a City fan.

I think a lot of people are over thinking this. The problem isn't just using exorbitant amounts of money, those are a club's privilege to use the owner's wealth.

The real problem is City knew they were breaking the rules but still did it and then tried to hide it via lies and other methods. That's why they should get the max punishment to set a precedent for any new rich owners

Think as a fan base, we would be more up in arms, and totally with the general media reaction pile-on, if we had been more successful during those periods. In reality City were preventing Liverpool & Arsenal from winning it, and we’d obviously choose that option over them, and then to a lesser extent United under Mourinho will have a claim. Despite the UCL win, they have of course taken Cups from us during that time, FA Cups, League Cups but nonetheless.
