There was a story on Talksport earlier tonight, later "strenuously denied" that Terry Henry had "agreed in principle" to join Barcelona for something like 17 million euros.

This story, supposedly, was on http://www.francefootball.comhttp://www.francefootball.com so if you're French is up to it, or you're inclined to try to make sense of a http://www.babelfish.comhttp://www.babelfish.com translation, check it out.

Which according to babelfish means

France football the revele Tuesday: Henry agrees with Barcelona (Press-Sports).
But maybe that's because I can't be bothered to do the accents in revele. I think it means reveals.

Anyway. The chances are that it's all complete crap. But maybe not. And I've wondering whether I'd actually prefer him to stay at the Arse, having not exactly been at his most effective last season, or to see him out of the Premier League, possibly with a new lease of life at Barcelona.

I think Arsenal would be wise to sell. They are not a team in a positon to be ready to challenge for major honours yet and they won't be this coming season with, or without, Henry. His stock is on the decrease and they would be wise to cash in whilst they can still get a resaonable wedge for him.

I bet they are secretly regretting not letting him go last season when they could have got a mint for him.

and ...

The French attacker found an agreement with Barcelona on the basis of contract a three year old for what can become the transfer of the year. Still miss the green light of Arsenal where it had prolonged until 2011. "Henry very close to Barcelona", it is what reveals France Football in its number to appear this Tuesday. In the article of Paco Aguilar, the correspondent of Bi-hebdo in Barcelona, appears a beam of indices incentive to think that the arrival of the attacker of Arsenal in Spain seems from now on imminent. After the recent declarations of international French who let plane a doubt about his future at the "Gunners", an important stage was reached last week at the time of the meeting between the agent of the player, Jerome Anderson and the sporting director of Bar?a, Txiki Beguiristain. An agreement would have been reached at the end of this exchange between the two parts, on the basis of contract of three years (more one year in option) and incomes of ten million euros per season, superiors of almost 40% with those currently touched by Thierry Henry in Arsenal. If the transfer appears in very good way, all the questions are not solved for as much. It is not at all in the intention of the English club to let leave its striker high-speed motorboat under contract until June 2011 without requiring a strong sum. The year spent, it had been question of 40 million euros; today, with the approach of about thirty, Thierry Henry always represents much money, and it is not known as only the 25 million euros that Barcelona wants to propose in Arsenal is sufficient. The business which had failed one year ago in any case left well to be concluded this time, as of the moment when the French is decided to break the bond with Arsenal which it had joined in 1999.
er ... my head's spinning.

I've just read the report and it's still pure speculation. No more substance than 'Lamps off to Barca' reports in the Sun.

I think he's regretting it as well.

Exactly.
Henry is now apparently threatening to sue France Football. Who would believe there'd be all this fuss over a striker high-speed motorboat. Must have been the beam of indices wot done it.

The BBC are also reporting it as an 'uncomfirmed' signing - this could just be the transfer (if it happens) that sparks the transfer market into life.

16 million seems a bit low for him, if what the BBC are saying is true. He's worth ?20 million +.

Wenger must have something up his sleeve if he's willing to let Henry go. They've already lost Alliadiere and Baptista (no great loss there).

That leaves them with Van Persie, Adebayor and Bendtender. Now none of them look like 20-30 goal a season strikers to me.

Its nice that at the moment we're not the club falling apart, its refreshing. Our time will come though.

What do you mean? Lamps is off, JT's off, Robben's off, JM's a dead man walking, RA's closed his wallet, we're shopping at Poundstretcher, our transfers are under investigation... You should read the papers more.

As much as i hate Arse i must admit 've got a lot of respect for Henry as a player.

Snotty attitude yes, but what a talent. The league will miss him.

Interesting times ahead for Gooners. Only three years ago they were on the top of the world and now.........

Yep. 3 or 4 years ago Arsenal were 'The Untouchables'. Now they can barely touch our coat lapels as we speed of into the distance.

Interesting times lie ahead at Arsenal.

If Henry leaves Arsenal then they have to sign another great striker. Otherwise they won't go far this season. When Henry was injured this season Arsenal were on their knees.

I wonder what will happen at Barcelona. Eto?o, Ronaldinho, Messi and now Henry. Will they change from 4-3-3 to 3-3-4?

If not, who will they put on the bench?

Perhaps Eto?o leaves then. He goes to Milan who then sell Gilardino to Juventus who sell Trezeguet to Arsenal. That completes the circle of life
