Man City Charges

The position I was replying to was united and arsenal will scoop up the titles. Why? Because they have a lot of revenue.

Tottenham are at the level revenue wise that when they crack the sporting side they will be able to win titles. I think they are actually better placed than united because United's ownership and debt levels are a real problem. Tottenham at least are trying to be better - they are just failing

We are falling behind because we don't have a stadium that can bring in the revenue. We are 6th in revenue size, we will fall to 7th or 8th if we don't get a new stadium. We will never go to 4th or 5th without one.

That's what will matter over the next 20-30 years.
We've probably spent as much on total transfer fees as Utd and Arsenal in the last 4 years or very close to it .
Our smaller stadium hasn't stopped us breaking transfer records or assembling the most expensive team recently.

By breaking every loop hole we can find to stay within the rules. Now we are relying on sales.

There's a reason we didn't replace Enzo F. Theres a reason our back up striker is now Danny Welbeck.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and (eventually) United will out compete us on transfers over the next ten years.

If we can build a modern stadium, we will be at that table.

Bordeaux relegated to 6th division of French Football…

"Did Bordeaux say anything about how much this hurt them?"
"not much, they just gave a little wine"

Jokes aside, we're a bit at the stage where there's no movement with the City story so all the media outlets are now just at the stage where all they can do to keep the story on the front/back pages is just continually try to one up each other with showing just how outraged they are. It all gets a bit performative, and that's as someone who thinks the punishment needs to be severe.

Wise word from Joe Cole

Nah, Joe Cole is another person who simply doesn't get it.

Let’s look at Leicester. Three times they finished in the top five, and each time City occupied one of those Champions League spots. That’s hundreds of millions in Champions League revenue Leicester never got, money that could’ve been poured into the squad, the infrastructure, and long‑term stability. Fast forward to today and they’re sitting at the bottom end of League One.

People genuinely aren’t grasping the scale of collateral damage here.

Maybe . Bigger stadiums don't always mean better teams .......
Spurs have had a 62,000 capacity for over 7 years . (Almost relegated. )
West Ham 62,000 for over 10 years.( And they got it for free) (Relegated.)
United had 67,000 and for over 20 years..( sh*te.)

The decisions of our owners are the reason we are falling behind.
We weren't falling behind until they took over.

I find that the way that Fergie’s Utd and now Arsenal influence the refereeing in the PL is more of a cheating than what City has done. Blaming City for Leicester’s demise is at the same level as blaming Roman for Russian invasion of the Ukraine, or like blaming Utd and Arsenal for Blackburn’s demise.

I can’t help but feel those are wild off the mark false equivalencies.

Never mentioned....The Moore's family wealth bankrolled Liverpool ( and Everton) from the 1960s .....

Sir John Moores' family wealth significantly benefited Liverpool FC by providing financial support that allowed the club to invest in player transfers and infrastructure, leading to unprecedented success during the 1960s and 1970s. This investment helped Liverpool become one of the most dominant forces in European football.

For me it’s like Joe Cole has said. They’ve broken the rules, unfair rules imo, yes, but their team has won fair and square on the pitch, against the influence that Utd and Arsenal and Liverpool have on the FA, PL and refereeing. They were able to build a good team, and we still managed to beat them to the PL and the CL because on those occasions we were the better team on the pitch. If all the other whinnying teams had been better, they’d have done it like we did. It’s not like they’ve fixed matches, got the referees in their pockets (unlike some of these clubs that are crying the most), or taken drugs to be better on the pitch.

It’s always been about the money, anyone who thinks that money didn’t buy the titles is deluded. The teams that have won what they’ve won is because they were able to buy the better players at the time. Financial doping, as they call it now that it’s City or Chelsea, has been the very base of football for more years than any of us here have. They’re just annoyed that this time is not one of the media darlings.
Sorry, this was in reply to @The Rising Sun

I don't think it's possible to quantify, how on earth do you factor in opportunity cost and the variables and randomness which ensue from that?

The other day I was thinking about what might have happened had we been able to sign Agüero without Man City's dirty, dirty money (as opposed to our perfectly legitimate Perestroika money) getting in the way. For one thing we probably wouldn't have been lumbered with Torres, but if Agüero supplanted Drogba as our starting striker, would 2012 have ever happened? Would it have happened earlier? Would he have been Luc Nilis-ed two months into his debut season? It's not possible to know.

How can one define what justice means in this situation? Righteous indignation aside, I don't know what the right outcome is here. Sink Abu Dhabi into the Persian Gulf? Free their slaves?
