You're spot on here. Too many people seem to think that you can have your cake and eat it too. It's simply not possible, I've always said if we wanted to have a couple of years scraping into the top four to bring some players through that would be fine. But we don't win 8-0 these days and the team gets slagged and people expect the manager to be sacked. But you know full well the abuse and vitriol that a lot of people post on here when we don't win, or even if we win but not convincingly. How do you truly think the match threads would go if we tried Mancienne alongside Terry for a few matches and didn't win them all playing stunningly good football?
Just on that, CFCCAN does make a good point about that as well. If we keep changing the manager every two years, what do they care who is playing for the team in three? There is no incentive for the manager to play younger players because he knows there will be no reward. If as is to be expected the young players have some bad games and we miss out on winning something, he is gone and doesn't reap the rewards if they turn out to be something.
There will never be youth at Chelsea without managerial stability, and it drives me up the wall that people expect one without the other.
