This old furphy. Let him go? He wanted to go. He declined a new contract. He wanted Newcastle, his family are all Newcastle supporters. Tell us how you think we could have kept him against his will.
Given him more minutes? Told him he was in our plans? Silly old things like that.
You overlook that he wanted to go to Newcastle. Full stop. Primarily for family reasons.
Is he willing to play sparringly for 10/20 minutes when you need an extra box target?
No. It's about him, it has always been about him. Him first, team second. Is there a bigger ego in football?
This. I don't understand why he doesn't want to come off the bench. He can still be a hero, he can come in for 10/20 min and "save" Portugal.
Ego. He wants to be like Messi or Modric who are still their team's best player for 90 minutes, but he hasn't been a 90 minute player for 3-4 years tbh.
That make sense.
He doesn't have the physicality anymore. He needs the ball served up to him on a plate. His ego blinds him. Last night -v- Denmark proved how much better they are without him.
I think he still has the physicality but he doesn't want to do the dirty job.
Well they were up against the 3rd best team in the world.
Especially for a club big on young players but it’s just like Trevor if you’re not a hot name they don’t want you.
FFS. How many times does it need to be said? Hall wanted Newcastle. Turned down a new, improved Chelsea contract. Family ties to Newcastle. End of.
