We do struggle against the big teams, but for me that's more to do with the slim difference in quality that we share with our main rivals, the margins for error are so narrow now and therefore any player that doesn't perform to a very high standard in a given game stands out.

i thought on the whole the performance wasnt too bad. we created a lot of chances and dominated the game after the 1st 20. losing riccy is a big blow, hope it isnt too bad, though alex did very well when he came on. malouda didnt really do a lot as usual, kalou took neville on more times in the 15 he was on. bosingwa was superb, as was ashley cole. ballack was tidy, but his pass to joey was superb and deserved a goal. lamps was everywhere, seemed to take on the play we get from deco, but unfortunately it took him away from the areas he normally gets chances from. mikel was as cool and calm as ever, breaking up a lot of utds attacks. joey had 2 chances he normally takes with ease, but didnt really do a lot more than that other than his superb ball in for anelka. all in all i suppose ill take a draw considering we were behind, but we should really have won this game. nice to see the drunk jock throw his dummy out the pram at the end, i dont think he even shook scolaris hand. what a w**ker

 
1-1 is a fair result IMO. United defended well and we dont have enough quality in front of goal. Glad to see Drogba on the pitch. If everyone on the team had played as well as Bosingwa played we would have won this 8-0. He is the best player on that position in the world at the moment. Im glad we didnt get Alves.

could have won but the players who are not in form are the ones who should bag the goals, Joey and Anelka. Im not expecting anything from Malouda. We should start next game with Kalou.

ps. hope Riccy and Deco are not badly injured.

Also, can i just ask this question: How over-rated is Rooney? Scores a hat trick in a European debut against Fenerbahce who didn't know how to defend, and he's heralded as a hero. Honestly, he's done f**k all really to warrant all the hype!

 
He was never going to give that decision at the end. Rio deserved a second yellow, final whistle or not, but we wouldve scored that freekick, I know it

You hit the nail on the head, CH. We played the better game and deserved all three points, or at least played well enough to get them, but this had 'setup game' written all over it. I was very nervy they would beat us and end the streak. On top of that we lost our best defender and Deco by minute 10. For a side hastily thrown together, we bossed the whole thing. To me its "well done, next time better finishing"

If anything, I think this says that we have the character to keep going at an opponent and not lose our nerve when defeat looks imminent. That, and it exposes the lack of options we have in attack. If Drogba is getting older, and Anelka cant be trusted, then who do you turn to?

Malouda was poor, Joe was wasteful, Anelka was.......ummm. Being that it was so close to 'just not our day' Ill take what happened. And thank GOD for Kalou

Scott, Rooney is a top drawer player. Hate to say it but he is utter quality and any team would want him.

Anyway, pleased to get the draw. Wouldve snatched your hand off for a point after 25 mins. Pleased at how we got back into it and it was end to end for the last 10 mins. That record could easily have gone today

Was worried when Alex came on because i thought the central defensive partnership would lack pace but i needed have worried as his positional play was so good pace became irrelevant - he is far too good to be a third choice imo.

Bosiwnga is fantastic going forward but i do worry about him against the top players at the back. His play was far too relaxed for their goal and he needs a kick up the ass for that.

Anelka - what can i say ? A second striker in Jan please. That sums it up really. Wrong choice of ball 7 out of 10 times.

Hate to say it but Robinho wouldve made a differrence today. You can see why BPS wanted him so bad. His presence on that left hand side would make such a change to Malouda its untrue. Its game like today he wouldve been bought for.

Ashley Cole - i warm to him with every week that passes! He really does know how to play Ronaldo.

Also for the record i think Utd have over paid on Berbatov by about 15 million.

Fingers crossed for Deco.

I don't know what the f**k they were complaining about - it was Riley's early whistle that robbed us of a chance of a last gasp winner. Never mind that Ferdinand should have been sent off, maybe too late to affect today's result but he and the Mancs were extremely lucky to escape without a Red Card and a subsequent ban.

Kalou- Said he'd ahve a break out year, and I don't understand why he's still on the bench most the time. He should be used ahead of Malouda. Took his header really well, and always looks like he is up for playing.

Summation, we should have won, but final balls and attacking options were sub par

Bit harsh? I thought he had a good half in all honesty. Anelka should be dropped to 3rd option behind Di Santo after that. He was absolutely awful.

Yes, we should've won, but Chelsea have those games where we can't score and for me I see it as a point saved rather than 2 points lost

 
We were shocking in the first 25 minutes - all over the place. I feared we were gonna get a spanking once we went 1-0 down - especially with Carvalho going off & no Deco. But after that there was really only one team in it. They looked poor. Neville was lucky to stay on the pitch and Berbatov was invisible.

Thought our best performers were Alex, Ashley and also Boswinga (apart from the goal). Anelka just seems to get worse and worse. He really doesn't look like a striker at all at the moment and hopefully he'll drop to the bench (behind Kalou) now Drogba is back.

I like Mikel and I am all for us playing more attacking football. However, what was apparant today, was that at times the defence will be a lot more exposed. I guess we'll just have to accept that, but in those first 25 minutes there were MASSIVE gaps in front of the back four and we looked all at sea.

Not unhappy with the result, but we should have got all 3 points.

 
On Sky Sports, they gave PARK the MOTM.

Did anyone see him do anything other than score? I certainly didn't.

For once, Malouda actually played better than Joey. He was still poor, but Joey was pretty awful. And Anelka. What's more to say?

JT looked a bit shaky for me...hasn't had the best start to the season.

i think we struggled in the first 25 simply because of decos late withdrawl. we play completely different with deco in and had to quickly adjust. unfortunately we didnt and it took 25 to sort things out. after that though we totally dominated..

That's a very good point, the other, related factor being that Ballack isn't fully fit, which I suspect is why he was taken off when he was.

He looks like he'd rather be back home in Versailles nuzzling into his mother's hairy armpit.

 
in all fairness i would have taken a draw before kick off

now i'm dissapointed i thought we did enough to win it, poor finishing in front of goal j coles smash straight at the keeper and anelkas miss which i still dont know how he missed it, he's supposed to be a top striker

the dirty mancs 6 or 7 bookings in a game where the ref was rubbish, he didnt let the game flow enough and spoilt it

not quite sure what happened at the end but i'm sure the ref bottled sending ferdydandy off and blew the final whistle instead

i'm not sure if we would have got any more out of the game if deco had played or not, but i think if riccy c had stayed on they would never have scored, he would have got park covered

excellent finish by kalou, a good substitution,

we need to be more clinical in goal

drogba looked sharp when he finaly made his dramatic entrance which is a good thing

cech and bosingwa could have done a lot better with there goal but they both redeeemed themselves, also a good come back after injury for ballack considering he wasnt due to start

i hope riccy c's injury is not to serious they did say something about the dr having a look at his ligaments on the telly, but alex will provide excellent cover

 
I thought Joe Cole (amongst others) was awful today, props to Alex, SFL, Ashley and Mikel for being the only players on the pitch that weren't complete ****.

 
Just got back from the game, and i must say i have not seen Joey Cole have a worse game in a Chelsea shirt in a long time if not ever, he was absolutely shocking. On a positive note both Alex and Mikel were absolutely different class.

 
Just got back from the game, Alex was superb, out to prove a point I think - and he did. Top performance, you know you can rely on him.

In all, we were the better team, should have won... Anelka was woeful (how did he miss that?!) and we missed Deco.

However, the gap hasn't closed, that is very important, extending it would have been a bonus, but they're no closer.
