Rangers Vintage

When Rangers played Bayern Munich in the Fairs Cup in 1970. If ever two players epitomised their clubs it is these two.FB_IMG_1790787530101.jpg

Colin Stein celebrates Rangers scoring in the Glasgow Cup Final in May 1975.

It ended 2-2 and the trophy was shared.

A typical rain soaked May Day at Hampden!

Alex Ferguson watches the Dynamo Dresden keeper make a spectacular save.

Second Leg of Fairs Cup Tie at Ibrox in October 1967. Rangers won 3-2 with a John Greig goal in the 90th minute!

Boyne . I think that’s the legendary Rangers forward Bob McPhail of the great Rangers 1920s and 1930s sides sitting to the immediate left.

Mr McPhail is the older man wearing the dark suit and glasses, at the white section partition.

@erskblue I think you're right. It does look Mr McPhail. A Rangers great.

I admit to being biased but in my opinion the Main Stand at Ibrox is the finest stand in a football ground. Yes, there have been a number of changes over the years but it, especially the external view, is awe inspiring..

From 1978. Sandy playing for a Rangers XI against a Scotland XI. It was John Greig's testimonial and Rangers beat Scotland 5-0. Greig scored twice. The player in the background is Ian Wallace.

Boyne.Great picture. This is immediately prior to or at the time of the 1938 Empire Exhibition.

This was just just a few hundred yards away in Bellahouston Park.

Ibrox held a mini football tournament and was the venue for the opening ceremony in which over 100,000 spectators were in attendance.

Here’s a picture of Ibrox during the opening ceremony of the 1938 Empire Exhibition.

The singing and the language in the North Enclosure and in Ibrox in general, would have been very different from a normal match day!😀

From 1989. Two great players. It's a shame that it didn't work out for Derek Ferguson during his time at Rangers. A very talented player.FB_IMG_1791320917773.jpg

Good shout.

Derek Ferguson actually made his first team debut for Rangers before he had taken his O Grades in the spring of 1983!

This was when he was just 15 years old and in a Testimonial Match for Tom Forsyth!
