hmmmm innocent until proven guilty ? when you consider the multicultural society terry lives in, works in, the fact his be depicted as a racist because of a video that only really shows half of what he said and for the FA to presume him guilty is an absolute joke, without even informing the manager

i saw capello just gives him the armband, his going on the pitch anyway so f**k the FA all they care about is ' image ' bunch of people who aren't in touch with todays society

Fock all of them! Complete travesty, period! There is not one club or team that does not want JT on their backline! Let's here the praise at the Bridge tomorrow regardless of him not playing! And as for the FA and the English squad, go piss off! f**king rubbish anyway! Hope this gives us momentum and we send United home with nothing! Come on you BLUES! Torres for a hat trick, 3-1 Chelsea! Let's rise to the occasion boys and turn it around! We want third place this year! Next season is ours under AVB!

I see that self publicist Rio Ferdinand has had his say, and even though he probably has only seen the same dubious footage as the rest of us has decided to vilify Terry. I`m guessing this has absolutely nothing to do with getting his ugly mug in the papers again, though its strange how he didnt back up his team mate in quite the same way.

Apparently Capello is not happy at all and has talked to the chairman, he wants JT back as captain thats for sure.

I don't see how he can be captain if so many of the squad are supposedly against him, some publicly such as Rio Ferdinand.

Considering I've always thought of Capello for being too eager to bend to the press and not willing to experiment... I've actually got a bit of respect for him for doing this. Makes you wonder if the fact he knows when he's losing his job has made him more willing to stand up to FA interference.

As for Rio, he's so injury prone I'm amazed that he doesn't sprain his fingers doing his tweets. As is the case with other twitter happy footballers like Barton... Who gives a toss what they think. They somehow see themselves as the 'voice of football' and all these tweets are doing is showing people how bitter and petty they can be with their personal prejudices.

I thought it was Capello who had stripped him of the captaincy. Surely it's his decision who will be captain and who wont? I can't remember ever hearing that someone else decided that.

The FA knew Capello's feelings but never asked him for his vote. In fact, they made the decision when he was out of the country. In their statement, the FA said they had the authority. The FA played to public opinion. But public opinion is fickle and this might eventually rebound on them.

Capello's vote isn't going to help him, he may be even more disliked than Terry himself.

I've noted the carryon about the booing of Rio. I expected it, but was it really any different from the booing he gets normally, or the booing that Rooney got?

Surprisingly good article from G Nev on this matter: http://www.readability.com/articles/wdjni7uu

The decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy - taken on Friday by the FA board without consulting the manager, Fabio Capello - was typical of the FA: inconsistent, bowing to media pressure and half-hearted.But every case should be judged on its merits. And if I was in the England dressing room today, whether I thought Terry guilty or not, I'd be fighting for due process again.

Maybe he has lost a few friends since I left the England team but I liked him. I'm not his best friend but he was the best captain and, overall, I thought he was a good lad and I liked being in his company.

And, incidentally, taking the armband won't stop him being the leader of the group: he is the most prominent figure in that dressing room.
Although just today, we have the latest 'Terry is still my captain!' article too: http://www.readability.com/articles/2dd1ezqy

Gary Neville needs to shut up, he's becoming more likeable everytime I read his opinion.

And still it thunders on, Oliver Holt thinks the booing of Rio Ferdinand yesterday was "sinister" and the bloke on Sky Sports News this morning thinks its taking things back to the "bad old days"

Of course the implication is that booing Ferdinand is racist...Well its not, Wayne Bridge got booed by some fans was that racist too ?

Ashley Cole gets dogs abuse from rival fans is it because of the colour of skin, or is it because people just hate him, and what part do our media play in the vilification of Cole ?

Lampard being booed by England fans racism, or petty tribalism..?

Rio is a big boy , he knows when he tweets his opinions that there will be a reaction, and he can appear like a victim, while stirring the pot all the while.

As one Journo stated on yesterdays Sunday Supplement, "there are a minority of players in the England camp who are determined to keep this story in the public domain, and we all know who they are", sadly he didn't have the bottle to name them, but I would hazard a guess that one of them was Rio...

It was interesting to see Sturridge and Welbeck covering their mouths as they chatted while leaving the pitch yesterday, I hope all the players start doing it, especially our players...

Rio is not a victim, Rio is a mouthy sh*t stirrer. There is nothing wrong with booing him at the moment he doesn't need to say what he's saying, he wasn't there nor was the alleged phrase aimed at him. He should shut up until the trial like his brother has.

I loathe the man, such a w**ker

The highly partial BBC have now run with a headline stating the Capello may have breached his contract by stating that Terry should not have had the captaincy removed.

Not that Capello has been overly popular throughout his reign as for one thing our whiter than white (pun?) press have often lent towards xenophobia when writing about him but, now his support of Terry could see renewed pressure to get rid of him.

And as with the BBC running a pointless tweet of Jason Roberts as a headline last week they have today gone with the speculation of an ‘ex’ FA bloke who has guessing/wishing about the detail of Capello’s contract. But it is all good when getting at Terry and Chelsea.

The BBC seem as hell bent as everyone else on trying to make sure that Terry never pulls on an England jersey ever again.

I was all for Fabio and Terry both telling them to shove it where the sun don’t shine. The only drawback I guess is that it would give the FA, press and non-Chelsea fans just what they want. And it would provide everyone with perfect scapegoats as England crash out of the tournament.

The trouble with all of this is that according to the law none of the stuff being tweeted/written about in the press can be considered predjucical because the case is being heard by a magistrate not a jury..Now suppose you are the magistrate in question, would you not be a little bit tempted to read whats being said about a very high profile case, concerning a man who is famous/notorious that you are going to be hearing, after all surely its human nature to be curious..

And seeing that the prevailing mood amongst the press and general public is for a lynching will that sway any decision. Because make no mistake, there will be a great deal of pressure for the "right decision" to be reached (a guilty one, naturally)

I am not at all comfortable with the amount of reporting and opinion being expressed, to say nothing of the FA stepping in. Maybe I'm being over sensitive but when I hear journalists on the telly justifying the FA stance because the charge is so serious (it carries a maximum £2500.00 fine not a prison sentence so by definition its not actually that serious*) I fear the worst for Terry..

*I know that racism is serious and I'm not trying to imply that it isnt, I am talking about the seriousness of this case in purely legal sense..

Me too. I think that his England career is in tatters. There is clearly a move to get him out of the squad now and irrespective of the court outcome (which I'm convinced will be a nailed on guilty verdict) he will never be selected again.

The first question at interview for Capello's successor will be, "Would you ever select John Terry?" And a yes answer to that will rule anyone out of the running.

On the plus side for Terry, I think that even with a guilty verdict he will retain strong support at Chelsea, especially from the fans. I say this as he has been so unfairly treated and condemned before a fair trial that even if it turned out he’d planted a burning cross in Ferdinand’s front garden I think that the support will stick with him as we all feel that it has been a witch hunt and one where not only Terry himself but anything related to him, particularly CFC and it’s fans have been vilified with great glee by the press, football community and general public.
