The Injuries Predicament

Perhaps the modern flimsy boots are a contributing factor ?

Or maybe the intensity of the game has reached levels that the average human body simply isn't designed for ?

This is what we have looked like in the BlueCo era :

Game week / result / number of players absent (compiled using the match data from Sofascore)

Maresca has been having it quite good in comparison to Potter, Lampard and Pochettino.

Arteta makes you laugh, Saka could be out for another 8 weeks..he has the cheek to say that players are having to play more games, well remind us in the last three seasons how many of your players have you continually run into the ground, making them play CL games when you had already qualified, playing Caribou cup games against lower league opposition, yet you continued to pick Saka, even Arsenal supporters were questioning it, now its caught up with Saka, it could be the end of him, he will continue to get hamstring injurys

For a while I though the boots was a factor - certainly on metatarsal injuries, but that shouldn't contribute to hamstring / calf.

Maybe players have become more like thoroughbred racehorses. Great when they are fit but doesn't take much for them to go lame. There are some I can think of that could be candidates for the glue factory!

I think theres something to this, players are trained to such a high level that they are constantly on the edge of strains and pulls. Its also the ridiculous amount of games with very little recovery time now too, even off season is shorter and shorter.

Its not just us though, theres a huge amount of injuries in top level football over the past few years, and very little care given to young players coming through, just look at the ridiculous reaction when we left Palmer out of the european squad to help with burn out.

What I meant to mention in original post was the playing surface. Although pitches are so much better and no longer full of mud and sand that we used to play on, I know they are not just grass now and think they're interwoven with synthetics or something?

I guess it's just a combination of factors in the modern game but the injuries across the board are now reaching ridiculous levels.
