The Marina Granovskaia Thread

We dont know if thats her role though, unless youve seen her job description on her contract. Thats not to exonerate her from any blame by the way, I just dont think she is the one who makes any footballing decisions, it looks to me like she`s Romans financial right hand at the club to do the day to day work. In the organisation I`m in she is the buyer, we engineers get the specs and needs ready with some preferred options and its then the buyers job to get us the best price, delivery terms etc.
The official site says she is responsible for player transactions and as a director that would mean everything to do with that. The role you describe is a very backend role of a procurement person in a typical firm- if that were the case she would not be the one getting her pictures clicked with staff such as lamps and players such as Timo.. The fact she is the face of the club for all external transactions gives us enough indications without having to read a JD.

And where did that war-chest come from?

60M for a want-away malcontent striker in Diego Costa that became Alvaro Morata
Full Refund of roughly 60M for unloading Alvaro Morata, a want-away flop
120M+ for aging Eden Hazard who pushed for a move and had 1 year left on his contract

All 3 were phenomenal pieces of business. Who led those pieces of business?

it would be remiss to talk about the war chest without giving credit to the person who helped build it

We're in this position because of a spectacularly run club. There are no guarantees in life, but I'm thrilled with how Chelsea has conducted business the last 24 months.
I too think the club do much better business than most other clubs but that doesn't mean they haven't been lucky with the timing of the availability of funds.

Chelsea just happen to have a huge fund from the sales of some top players when a world pandemic comes along and depresses the transfer market. If the pandemic hadn't happened the likes of Barca and Real would be all over Harvertz and Werner.

Yes, the ban was a huge blessing in disguise in hindsight. Also the fact that we brought in Lampard & Petr Cech when we did have had a major impact obviously.

If we didn't have the ban and Sarri remained manager we would likely have gone down the path of signing the likes of Higuain permanently. And been in the sh*t now.

Even if some of the young players brought in last season do not make the team their value will have increased through being part of a top 4 team. They most likely wouldn't have had that experience without the transfer ban.

The stars aligned and we are on track to have the best transfer window since 2004 and certainly better than other PL clubs at the moment.

Marina must be working nights getting all these transfers over the line. Silva, Chilwell and Havertz all to be signed in the coming days and there's rumours of a goalkeeper too. She's even picked a good year to not have a holiday.

I agree, but you make your own luck to a certain extent, because the club is well run, Chelsea is in a position to take advantage of a depressed market.

That's not an accident.

Bottom line, since this is the Marina Granovskaia thread... there aren't a lot of execs around football I'd want to trade her for....

Absolutely.

We have also raised about 45 million pounds from selling some of the loanees since last summer. It's gone under the radar but that's also a good amount of cash that has made it possible to invest as heavily as we currently are.

And i don't think we are quite done after the three you mention either.

We also overlook the fact that we have made money from loaning players too.. Baka was a 5 million loan , Zouma was 7 mil, we recouped the Higuain loan by selling Fabregas in January.. even Pasalic and Morata bought in 10m in loan fees. I think financially we are well run club.

Other club's fans called us a sugardaddy club in regards to transfers when in actuality Roman is the only owner that made his club self-sustaining. The other giants are either already established or requires cash injections every year from "sponsors"

I'm thoroughly enjoying this summer so far, and the other team's fans goin on about "bUt, wHaT aBoUt FfP?"

Had to google Edwin Andersson   Both he and Tauriainen signed earlier this year, not this summer window, as I understand it.

Yea you're right, those youth players were signed before the summer.

Has she sold anyone yet? We could put a new squad out every game next season without a worry.
I don't think so. At the moment, we can put out 2 starting XIs, pit them against each other in training and the best gets to start.

We'd probably move on 6 players in this window in all honesty

No one is buying. I imagine quite a few loans are lined up but we are waiting to see if we can actually sell them first.

Like a boss . To extract £143m from Madrid for the player with one year left on his contract, that's impressive.
