Extremely unlikely that Torres will get a fun out now I'd guess. And some sort of freak catastrophe would have to take place before Mata has to put his shinpads into his socks.

Spain as boring as ever, but unlike Italy they score on the few chances they get.

F*ck!

Our front 3 have unfortunately been sub-standard. Can't play this formation with a front 3 that are disconnected offensively and not keeping the shape defensively. Spain on the other hand have been excellent even without the ball.

And can I just say that I can't stand Fabregas. He smiles and I want to just hit him. I don't think I'll ever change my avatar pic...

Another nice goal, that alba can't half shift.

I agree. But this game is nowhere near over. I'm hoping Italy can make a comeback.

Spain................................ breathtaking. The movement, the passing................ this is football.

What do Italy do? Sit deep and try to keep the score respectful, or push forward and possibly lose by a cricket score.

I remember watching the Brazil V Italy 1970 world cup final which is widely regarded as the most complete team performance in the history of football. Spain are close to emulating it.

Everytime his name comes up i think of his hooligan face under his hooligan hood when he invaded the pitch against some team last year

Must say I think Prandelli got this game all wrong. The lineup, the tactics and the substitutions. And although I haven't seen every game Italy have played, it seems to me that Prandelli makes more of less the same substitutions every time. Motta and Di Natale on - Cassano and Montolivo off.

Err.................isn't that the general idea?.
Never said it wasn't. Since Italy waste every opportunity they get (think they've had more than Spain even) they don't deserve to win.

A shame about the injury. A game and a tournament that deserved to conclude properly.

You have to appreciate Spain- they play almost like a club side. Defensively without the ball they showed they were very organised which I didn't expect. On our side I'm reminded why Allegri subbed Boateng after 30 minutes against Barca this season- playing a diamond without a front 3 that does it's job with discipline- you can't compete. Cassano and Balotelli were not a part of the defensive shape and did nothing to receive the ball to feet, and Montolivo gave a tactically indisciplined, almost English performance;)

11 minutes left- it has been a pleasure. One last question- where is Mata?
