Alan Shearer.
In his later years maybe, but there was a time he was awesome... one of the best English players of all time (There I said it!!)Alan Shearer.
He is? Are you sure? Looked nice on the front cover of OK magazine thoughAs for Steven, he is the best all round central midfield player in the country, easily, how can he be overrated?

I dont mean to insult you, but are you an idiot? Mikel is a decent looking player with great prospects, Ballack has been sh*te, Lampard doesnt merit discussion, Makalele was great but not anymore.Gerard Stevens being a great player is a media induced myth. He is a good player who has occasional great matches. But he is NOT a great player. The plus with him is that he often has these intermittent 'great matches' when the pressure is really on. Such as in finals etc. Which is a hell of a good quality to have, and not to be sneezed at. But, it's this very quality that blinds people to his Mr. Invisible act that he does so much of the time. He is a good player. But he is not and will probably never be, a 'great' player. And as such he is indeed one of the most overrated players around.Oh, and he wouldn't get into the Chelsea midfield if he played for us. Lamps, Maka, Mik and Ballack would be ahead of him.
(and come to think of it, probably Sidwell too...)![]()
no problem Tim.Thing is Rob, on what criterea are you basing this 'factual' assessment of Stevie G.He played predominently as a right-hand sided attacking midfielder, with little or no defensive responsibilities, for the majority of the season, and got half the number of goals as Frank and a lot less assists.
Surely, as an attacking midfielder, goals and assists are a pretty good basis on whether they have had a good season or not, so my question to you is how can you honestly justify, other than by media hype, the claim he is the best midfiedler in the country.
Please do fill us in on the myriad intangibles that make Stevie that God that he is, becuase I think most of us fail to see them....
I asked for a more complete centre midfielder than Gerrard. Scholes was a cracking player but couldnt tackle if his life depended on it. No-one has come forwad yet.I would rather Scholes than Stevens and he's ginger.
Easy: Frank Lampard. Don't believe me? Check the stats. Not through Blue or Red eyes, but pure black and white stats. Media hype: Gerrard can do no right, Lampard can do no wrong. So there you go. Most overrated player: Gerrard, most underrated player Lampard.I asked for a more complete centre midfielder than Gerrard. Scholes was a cracking player but couldnt tackle if his life depended on it. No-one has come forwad yet.
My idiocracy is well documented, Rob!I dont mean to insult you, but are you an idiot?
