Why do you support Chelsea?

My dad told me I did, and that was that.

 
I've given reasons for why I support Chelsea many times before but if I have to sum it up in one line:

I support Chelsea because I refused to conform with the glory hunting southerner masses who decided upon the Liverpools and ManUres when I was growing up.

Because I grew up less than a mile from Highbury and I have always been something on a contrary motherf**ker!

 
Grew up in battersea so chelsea was my local team, simple choice really. Went to my first game in 77 and have never looked back . But somehow my parents bought me a wolves shirt for my first kit. Could never bring myself to wear it.

 
My dad lived in on North End Road in Fulham and was a regular at the bridge in the seventies, I was born and we moved to Mitcham, I started watching matches with my dad in the early eighties and just automatically liked the team even though we were not doing that well and my whole school was Man U or Liverpool. Supporting them made no sense to me as I had no connection with those parts of the country.Kerry Dixon was my favorite player. There has never been another team for me, I guess its 'in the blood' as they say.

 
Because when i was 9 years old Blue was my favourite colour. So i picked Chelsea entirely on the basis they played in blue.

Worked out pretty well if you ask me...could have been worse, i might have ended up with Everton...

I had no real interest in football until quite late on, not even my local team Hibs (my dad was probably a bit disappointed) but when I was about 7 or 8 I started playing for a boys youth team and fell in love with the sport. But for me it was when I was in primary and all the other kids had their United strips on because that's who mostly everyone up here supported because they were the best, I didn't want to tag along with the masses so wanted something different.

Then I remember watching and growing to idolising our players, zola, wise etc. particualry the forwards (I used to play as an attacker when I was younger) and that started my love for Chelsea. I've never really looked back since it's just grown and grown over time.

 
Because i loved the way Roman used to buy players and gave us flags to wave........I loved the way we used to win titles and trophies............Think im gonna go and support man City now :rolleyes: :wink:

It's scary to read how many of us had a close shave and nearly supported (or were forced to support) a different team :shok: Imagine what would have happened to me if there wasn't any English football on Dutch tv.....

I'm another this could have happened to. Though I have never supported another team my dad is a ManUre supporter, and it could easily have been them I ended up supporting, like my younger brothers and sisters. Luckily for me my step dad raised me and he's a Chelsea supporter.

 
I grew up in Scotland, and where I was from it was either Rangers or Celtic. However, I couldn't be bothered with the sectarianism that surrounded the supporters of each of these clubs. Out of the two I prefered Rangers, thank you Davie Cooper, so knew of the affiliation with Chelsea.

Chelsea at that time had soem Scottish players, and weren't Man U so I started following them. I also knew that Speedie and Nevin had played for them.

 
No footballing ties in my family at all, but growing up my dads office was in London and looked out onto Stamford Bridge so Chelsea was just the natural team to choose. Also helped by the fact that i was about 5 at the time and very short for my age so Dennis Wise became a idol of mine. Never looked back since :blue scalf:

 
My grandad's cousin played for Chelsea towards the end of the war and a few years after, although my Grandad was a Millwall supporter himself, my old man took me to watch Chelsea v Leeds in the late 60's watching from the West Stand, that was my first introduction to Charlie Cooke who I thought was brilliant and better in many ways than the great Georgie Best. I then had a trial for the blues in the 70's, scored a great own goal and that was the end of my budding career. A group of us used make the trip to the Bridge as often as we could having fun in the real 'Shed End' with a few running battles now and then with the opposing supporters and blue being my favourite colour how could I not support this team?
