Xabi Alonso - New Chelsea Manager

I've only see different different channels interviews with him after the game. In both cases he is talking about the game as a "disappointing performance and results, but we move in to the next one"

I mean sure they have to move on and get back to winning but has he apologized to the fans in any interview? I know much needs to be kept in house but this is not a loss at Brentford or Hull, it is Spurs it is unacceptable to lose to them. Show it means something to you, show you understand why this result does to the fanbase.

As @RMH said above it ruins weekends, weeks even. You have to show you recognize it was not a bad performance, it was an unacceptable performance. A disgrace.

Fortunately for Alonso, Liverpool play Brighton, Chelsea and Arsenal in the space of only 7 days, so they might just rest some of their players for the League Cup match against us, which is sandwiched in between Brighton and Arsenal.

He must redeem himself after the monumental embarrassment against Spurs. Play the strongest side against Liverpool, go through and then win against United at home. The bare minimum in the next two matches, otherwise things will once again turn toxic.

Shocking today. Bad tactics from the kick off but the team’s attitude stank the Bridge. Worst team to play at the Bridge and get away with a 2-0 win, really pissed off. This has f**king ruined my weekend. Alonso and the players should really reflect on today’s performance and should meet the Chels fans to know what they’ve done today.
Also, I’ve always supported Gallagher, from today he’s going to get the worst treatment from Chelsea fans. I hope he goes on to play for spurs in the championship.
gallagher showed us exactly what is missing from our midfield and was sold by our club to buy some promising youth who is no longer here. The passion and commitment on display from him... made our players look distinctly average and bullied them off the park like he did last season.

Boo him all you like but he still bleeds blue of Chelsea.

Okay I stand corrected it was 4 at the back but the fact I couldn’t figure out what he was playing and probably others too suggested this was way too complicated and killed the players.
We got slapped at our house by f**king Tottenham!!

The massive issue for me, the one I can't get past, is that having made such a naive and basic tactical blunder and one that was so evident he did nothing to try and rectify it.

Everybody knows that they are mentally weak. They loaded the midfield with Maddison dropping in to make a three. I don't agree with the tactic of going long ball to give them the ball gack so we can counter on them. But having employed that tactic you have to match them up.

Drag Quenda, move Rogers or Neto the left, the other goes up top. Pull Palmer out to the right and bring on Lavia for Quenda. Lavia in the 10, or Henderson with the other in the double pivot. Match them up and wait for them to crumble. Then we have Barco, Estevao and Wellbeck to apply the pressure as players burnt out.
For all of the possession they had done fck all with until Penders cock up.

I am still so fking angry. Not at the loss per se, but at the massive tactical fck up and lack of awareness to deal with the issues during the game.

With a cooler head this morning I'm still confused at how yesterday happened, I just didn't see it coming but maybe that's on me. I'm glad we've got United coming next weekend where we can right some wrongs, but another performance like that and he's going to lose the good will of a lot of fans.

Early days but really worried. All our games is constantly like a game of tennis and that is never sustainable. I thought we were going to get ball control and possession. At half time it showed the stats. We had less than 30% of possession against Spurs. That is truly unacceptable. We were outclassed, outsmarted and out-coached. 8 games in and I still don't know what strategy Alonso is trying to lay down. It seems it is sit back and get the ball on the counter to the front three but when we play the better teams we are going to get destroyed. The Fulham game, where we were extremely lucky to win, I gave the benefit of the doubt as even then our possession was very low. However now, I am seeing no real tactical improvements.

Everton game, we could have conceded around 2/3 in first half if Barry and co had their shooting boots on. People say the defence is leaky. The defence is leaky because there is no clear idea or control off the ball.

It was also clear that we needed a focal point up front and Welbeck was just sat on the bench. Anyone watching could see that we were struggling to create anything in that first half and in second half there was no difference. What was Alonso waiting on???

People will blame individual errors which is of course true but Alonso was the real reason we lost yesterday.

Seeing fans already doubting him is a bit mad. Who else would people have wanted? Before we signed him, almost every fan was in favour of the appointment. There is no perfect manager. He needs to be given time. Arteta was given time and backing. Alonso has proven he can win a league title. The only other manager I would take would probably be Emery, but he's not leaving Villa any time soon, and that's only if Alonso was a failure.

Nobody is saying sack the manager. Once again success and potential abroad counts for nothing in the intensity and physicality of this league plus the tactical awareness that is often so lacking in these other leagues. I think what most are saying is that he needs to adapt and get up to speed quickly and he needs to fully understand the fabric of this club. Lose a cup final to a bitter rival and we are all pissed off for a period of time until results improve. Lose to Tottenham in the 8th game of a 38 game season and it will take a fking long time for us all to get past it.

I expected lows under Alonso and knew we’d hit adversity, but this was dark. We need a statement win from somewhere to drag ourselves out of this hole.

The defensive shape finally looked somewhat sorted, but our ball retention and our complete inability to function without Pedro remain massive problems that Alonso still needs to solve.

I don't think Alonso and the players can give us as bad a game and result as yesterdays vs Spurs in any other game this Season.

Ive seen people say we need to win at Liverpool, then beat United, to redeem ourselves. Is it that simple? A league cup win at anfield then beat United and we are happy again? we did not just lose to Spurs, we got embarrassed, a big wet slap in the face, at our home ground.

Right now I don't care about those games, Ive 0 faith in Alonso to lead this team after how he dealt with yesterday and winning these next two won't change that. Not only did he manage vs Spurs terribly, he also shrugged it off "we move on" showing 0 understanding of what the game meant to the majority of the fanbase.

I don't know about the rest of you but I need an apology from him and some "senior" players, and for them to at least appear genuine.

Get mauled by Liverpool and then United’s new manager bounce will happen. Strap yourself in ladies and gentlemen.

It’s quite impressive that in a game where a player was sent off, it was actually a game in which the fault lies 100% on the manager. He will carry this result for a long time, even when things pick up a bit, it’ll be there.

On a side note, the set pieces today were horrendous.
There wasn't a single thing we did that wasn't horrendous. Passing, movement, finishing, work rate on and off the ball, set pieces, aggression, defending. There wasn't a single player with a rating above 3. To play like that against Tottenham of all teams, and at home, it's unacceptable. This result will live in the memory for a long time, but the performance will live even longer, and for all of the wrong reasons.

I said I expect odd results along the way, much like we did with Sarri, but to have it happen at home to them... insulting. managers get it wrong, fine, but the effort from the players was on par with last season under both fraud managers we had.

Will see how we respond to that utter incompetent disaster in the next game but will not enjoy the build up or the game now. Im appalled at the result because the two previous games we took steps forward. yesterday was three back. Palmer needs to sort his head out, not really delivering in the league yet this season and was an absolute bell end geting sent off. Going to have trouble forgetting this result, but onwards and upwards we need to go.

Liverpool could put 10 past us, United could batter us, Enzo Fernandez could score a hat trick and give our fanbase the V sign as he does so, and none of it would compare to the indescribable horror that was yesterdays game.

I am now going back to not prioritising Chelsea matches anymore. Even if they are on Sky or TnT Sports I have had enough and losing at home to Spurs is the last straw. You just don’t do that!!

So there were various fights between the fan bases yesterday after the game I have heard. Resulting in some being seriously hurt and in hospital?

Still "we move on to the next one" right Xabi?
