Found it bizarre some fans felt he needed to take a step down to the Championship, he is only 19 and very happy a good PL team took a chance. Will be interesting to revisit this thread in 2yrs and assess his growth and development v the £50m+?recruit.

September 1, 2025Sep 1 Good deal for George and happy for him. I'm just gutted that we've sold him and got that punchable face Garnacho in to play on the left.
September 1, 2025Sep 1 Not to be too negative but we just signed Gittens for 60M who looks leagues below George currently, they’re similar ages, how is George going for 22M? Have we undersold or overpaid or a mixture of the 2?

September 1, 2025Sep 1 I agree Zeta. I'm not sure selling a promising player, who has been with us since he was 7 years old, is any great cause for celebration, regardless of the fee obtained. It will be interesting to see who has the better season out of George, Gittens and Garnacho, and even Sancho come to that LOL.

LOL
September 1, 2025Sep 1 In all honesty, I was never that impressed by George when he played last season. Estevao is a year younger and his performance against West Ham was better than anything I have seen of George, so I don't think this is a case of us selling one of the best and brightest of Cobham talent.

September 1, 2025Sep 1 Just now, just said:..... and Madueke.Haha - yes him too ... One thing's for sure ... they'll all be better than Mudryk !
September 1, 2025Sep 1 Best wishes to him. Fitting he is off to Fulham - always remember that great goal, and a key goal at that, away to Fulham last year. As said above, Estevao has shown more in a handful of games, and Quenda joins next summer. Jury is out on Gittens, but early days.
September 1, 2025Sep 1 Dont really rate George as someone who has long term 1st potential here, although looking at Gittens so far, and he looks similar tbh. What would George look like with 2 years at Dortmund? Anyway, wish him well, seems like a great kid, and I think Fulham will be a nice place for him to build a career.
September 1, 2025Sep 1 Another sold to pay for the spendaholics running our club, another sh*t decision. We just paid 60 million for a play two years older. The board can go get f**ked.

As much as we like the glamour of an Academy player coming through the ranks, they must really be some spectacular ones. George is ok, but nothing special. If this was Hudson-Odoi before the injury, I'd have the same exact reaction as yours. That guy was something special. But George is not.

Quienda (joins us next season 51 million euros) absolutely untested at premier league level. I dont rate a player on youtube videos. Gittens 60 million unproven so far at premiership level, Garnacho 40 million not the greatest stats in his time in the premiership. Jury is out on them as well as Estavao (who looks bright and decent) but lets see how the kid performs over the season. Maresca's system kills wingers, see Palmer drop off in form. Could have saved 100 million and let George develop and then moved into the market. Our owners just dont give the youth a chance as selling them helps their addiction to gambling on players.
September 1, 2025Sep 1 Quenda scored 2 goals in 3000+ minutes for Sporting last season. We've probably well overpaid for hype ... certainly zero guarantees at this stage that he will be any better than Tyrique.
