Tyrique George

I swear I've watched different games to some of the people here, I can't think of a performance from him that I've been impressed by and makes me think he has a long term future here.
I agree. Every time I've watched George, he's failed to pull pretty much anything off. Acheampong is a different matter though and I think he looks much further along than George.

Help me out here, What are you exactly expecting from a youth team player making the step up to senior football and has played a combined total of 84 premiership minutes? incidentally has an assist to his name.

Neto, five more goal contributions 1650 mins, Sample B 145 mins zero assists or goals, sancho 6 more goal contributions from 1500 mins havent really set the bridge alight with displays this season and Noni, jury is out on him from me but does stuff on the pitch.

If george was brazilian we'd have singed him for next season at 45 million and people would be watching his youtube highlights salivating. :-)

Guys proper Chels as folk say around here. With us since 8 give the guy a chance.

I don't expect anything from him, he's not ready yet, but I'm also not the one saying he should have a spot in the first team next season.

I don't want to get into comparing him with other players either, because their minutes are mostly coming from the Premier League and George's minutes are coming from the Conference League. The difference in quality is massive. If we played George ahead of any of our wingers, it would ruin him before he has even gotten started.

There’s not such huge difference between Nkunku and George, I’d go as far as to say that we wouldn’t have “enjoyed” such a lazy performance as Nkunku’s against Brentford had George played in his place.

Yeah, but Nkunku is playing as a striker, not a winger. Play George there and you're basically sending him out to fail.

He did play there against Legia in the second half and he did not do to badly. At least he ran, he pressed, he scored and tried his best. I’d rather see George as a striker than endure Nkunku as striker (or any other position, to be honest).

How would it ruin him? The age excuse doesn’t work anymore in modern football, and a young player will never be ready until you give him constant minutes. Hypothetically if we had a 17yr old Lewis-Shelly in our youth team you would leave him with the u19s because you don’t want to ruin him?

The best winger on the planet is 17yrs old, and when he broke through at 16yrs old he had 1 assist in his first 10 league games. After his 1st league he went another 10 games without making any contribution, but the manager kept on playing him

If we played George there regularly, I would rather do it because he has played so well that he deserves it, not because the other guy playing there is stinking up the place.

Because he doesn't look good enough yet. It really is that simple. I would rather not see him struggle in the Premier League, game after game, and destroy his confidence.

The alternative to playing Jackson is either Nkunku or George, as Maresca sees it, and I’d rather give George the chance than having Nkunku stinking the place. Also, though I don’t think that he’s done great, I’d start giving him minutes as a winger.

To be honest, perhaps Maresca is getting it right with him? I would have him in the squad next season as a back up, keep bringing him on as he's being used currently see how he pushes on. No issues with that and would like to see him give it a go. Not so sure about the claims for putting him up top... But more than happy with him so far, wasnt bad of him to be following up on Reece James' shot the other night. Goal made in cobham... :-) to me, he looks the sort of player you keep about and build his confidence that way. Who knows but happy for him and his goal. Good stuff.

If not looking good enough is the reason, then we shouldn't be playing most of our players. They all look rubbish. (I mostly blame Maresca)

That's a bit too far. Quenda is one of the best young wingers in the world. George, while I rate him, is not even close to CHO at the same age.
I'm sure you're aware that CHO was an absolute superstar at 17-18 but tailed off massively, so I think any comparisons are somewhat disingenuous.

What a bizarre thing to lie about.
Why would I lie about that?

I follow the league, it’s why I’m always suggesting players to sign from there.

When I said I wanted him to play more I meant on the wing, never thought he would be able to contribute like this at striker.

I'll have to give credit to Maresca for spotting that but will almost instantly have to take it back as he's still persisted with Jackson all this time instead.
