I'm glad it didn't last long! I was brought up with "Red and green should never be seen except on an Irish Fairy Queen!"
Big Bill Garner in the dreaded red/white/green kit

This kit was another one of Dave Sexton's brainwaves - he thought that because Hungary played well in this strip during the 50's it'd look good on Chelsea. Sexton was a prick!

What's more he was a prick with about as much dress sense as CJ on Eggheads!

Most of us thought it was unlucky too, a relegation kit. I think it was worn because Dave Sexton wanted to emulate the Hungarian team of the 1950's who played in those colours.

Danny Harkins whose nickname was Eccles was one of the top men in the 60s 70s & 80sHe always used to wear a brown suede bomber jacket

He started arranging coaches to away games in the late 70s

The rumour was that he became a millionaire in the 80s through a hardwear business

I can remember being in a mob with him at Coventry in about 1969

It was a night match and we were in the Coventry end and Eccles was threatening any Chelsea fans who ran that he would have them

He was always prominent at away games
I went on harkins coaches a few times in the early eighties, one time at sheffield wednesday when we were all ordered to jump off the coach in ones and twos as it crawled through the slow traffic near the ground we mingled in with the wednesday fans and went in there end only about thirty of us got in but they had sussed us coming and we got f**king battered just inside the turnstiles lol he did love to take an end our danny !

Just thought of another few from the old days..."We don't carry shotguns, we don't carry lead

We only carry hatchets to bury in your heads,

We don't carry razors, we don't carry tools,

We only wear our bovver boots to kick you in the balls"

then, to the tune of 'Pick A Bale Of Cotton'

"Jump down turn around, kick him in the bo**ocks

Jump down turn around, kick him in the head"

I can't remember what the Everton keeper did to deserve this, but this was sung to the tune of "Excerpt From A Teenage Opera" by Keith West

"Gordon West, Gordon West,

Biggest c*nt since Georgie Best,

Get on your bike, and f*ck off home"

and Kool & The Gang...

"Boot wrapped round yer head,

You'll get a boot wrapped round yer head"

I seem to remember it as

Gordon West. Gordon West

The biggest Queer since Georgie Best

Get on your bike and ride away

Sung to the tune of a excert from a teenage opera

The chorus of which was

Grocer Jack.Grocer Jack

Is it true what people say

You won't come back

oh noooooooooo

I can remember being at Wolves in the early eighties

And after the game Eccles was standing up on this grass mound outside the ground, like Colnel Custer.

directing the troops telling some to go left some to go right etc

We're the boys in Royal Blue we took molyneux

Whooly. Whooly.Whooly. Who

Who the fu**ing hell are you

That happened to me at Sheffield Wednesday back in the 72/73 season, FA Cup match. About 20 of us got inside the turnstiles at the Hillsborough Kop end, when the Wednesday mob sussed what was going on and proceeded to kick f*ck out of us. We had climb over the turnstiles and/or fight more Wednesday fans who were trying to get in, f*ckin' nightmare! We eventually ended up in the Leppings Lane end, and after the game Chelsea stuck together and ran Wednesday everywhere, giving them a good hiding by a petrol station.

Both the Sheffield clubs had decent mobs back then, though only at home - most northern fans didn't like travelling in those days, especially to London - can't think why :139:

There's a few songs like that, was discussing it earlier - different versions by different mobs, different interpretations, misheard songs...

That's one game I do remember, but as usual with me, not exactly for the best of reasons. I was 16 at the time, went up on the special, and this was one of my first proper away games out of London. I think we won 2-1? Anyway, when we scored our first goal we all went mental naturally, a little way in front of me was this big curly ginger haired northern bar steward. This twat was about 30 and he was laying into kids - kids who looked young to me as a 16 year old. So I grabbed his hair and smacked the back of this scumbag's head. With the inevitable result, me being too tall for my own good in such circumstances, that the idiot Old Bill came steaming up through the terraces and dragged me off to the cells to be later charged with ABH.

Went up to Sheffield Magistrates Court (or maybe it was juvenile court, I honestly forget after all this time) a few months later and pleaded Not Guilty. Told the magistrates exactly what happened and, me being of good character (oi oi shut it you!) they naturally believed me, and so I got off.

You're right, we won 2-1. I seem to remember either Ron Harris or Peter Osgood got sent off that day, though I might be wrong. I was only about 15 or 16 myself then, and we may well have been on the same 'special'.

The magistrates obviously realised that you were a fine, upstanding, law-abiding chap :139:

I think that might have been Plymouth. At the end of the game, as usual the Old Bill wanted to keep us in, but a load of us got out by forcing the corrugated iron at the back of the stand. We spilt up, a few of us went on ahead through a park with the main Plymouth mob in hot pursuit. Going over a hill we met the rest of the Chelsea, so stopped and turned .. and I swear you've never seen a mob stop and turn and run as fast as that lot did!

No norverners liked it at the bridge coz they knew "theyre never make the station" :139: lol

So many games so many laughs but always garanteed a row back in the day :139: lol

Another version was

Dennis Law, Dennis Law

The biggest qu**r since Bobby Moore

Get on your bike and ride away

Ride away

Or vica versa depending on who we were playing

I've just gotta get a message to you

F**ck off f**ck off

One more hour and your lives will be through

F**ck of f f**k off

Sung to the tune of the Bee Gees song "Message to you"

We're standing in the Shed

Come in and your brown bread La La La La La La La La La La La La

Sung to the tune of an early 70's hit "standing in the road"

Anyone remember Greenaways' Syrup

I used to like these ones, which were sung to the referee after a dodgy decision,

sung to the tune of "We'll support you ever more" (don't know the name of the Welsh hymn, maybe YorkleyBlue knows?) :139: :P

"Referee, referee, your old lady is an 'ore, your old lady is an 'ore" and repeat until bored.

or this, sung to the tune of "My Darling Clementine"

"Who's yer father, who's yer father, who's yer father, referee?

You haven't got one, you're a b*stard, you're a b*stard referee"

Does anyone remember the words to the song which was sung to the tune of "Banana Splits"? I never did get to learn the words to that one.

Do you remember the chant

Good old Bill

When we were banned from going to away games

We were dropped off at Walsall and got a local bus to Wolverhampton

We nearly filled one end of the ground

Bread of Heaven?

I know some people clap ex-players I never have in a game.

Whatever happened to "Chelsea reject..."
