The better team won so no complaints and it was closer than the snake-in-the-grass anti-Chelsea commentators are saying. I must say it sticks in my craw that Courtois (man of the match) is a loaned out Chelsea player but there. I thought Atletico were class, right down to Tiago's sympathizing with Terry at the end. Hazard was rusty but kept trying. Not sure if Jose just didn't want to drop Azpilicueta but also wanted to play Ashley. Torres is our best striker but got no service from an overrun midfield in the second half. How I missed Lampard (and Mikel). Good luck to Atletico in the final.

not disputing the result, but the breaks we enjoyed in 2012 certainly weren't there last night...from Lopez's mish*t shot that bounced perfectly into a place where no-one could get it, to Luiz's header coming off inside of the post and courtois' hand, fortunately on this occasion, deflecting the rebound away from on rushing chelsea players backwards over the bar...in contrast Turan's header off the bar came back perfectly into his path to make it 3...we played a part in our downfall, so did atletico, but that bit of luck you need sometimes went for them and against us

I thought the same, in 2012 that penalty would have been missed too, with the champions league, more than other competitions your name does have to be on the cup

I don't blame them.

Like Mourinho said, the CL owes Terry one. Imagine the pressure knowing that millions of people take the mickey out of you by missing that penalty and wearing a kit in a final you didnt play in. He wants to win it where he's involved to make up for Moscow, he may get paid alot but it shows emotion that he cares about it. He hasn't got long left.

Same case for Gerrard, having millions of people talk about how hes never won the league. Must haunt the top professionals.
Nail on the head!

I think this may be a generation thing!  I was brought up not to gloat when I won and to put on  a brave face when I lost.

Can't stand to see men (or women) blubbering in public.  As for those women who flap their hands in front of their eyelashes, whether they have won or lost, words fail me... :mouthzipped:

It doesn't bother me as much for Terry as it clearly shows he gives a sh*t.

The other end of the spectrum is observing the likes of Cleverly, Jones etc. When they got knocked out of the champions league they were seen laughing, joking and dancing in the street drunk afterwards.

You can't blame a major sports star for showing raw emotion in such a pressure cooker of circumstances.

What a load of tosh.
Maybe it is maybe it isn't. Terry slipped in Moscow, Gerrard slipped at anfield. We take the micky out of Gerrard, they do out of Terry. Terry was unlucky, Gerrard was unlucky.

There is a difference in professionals, someone like Terry wants to be involved in a winning final. Sure he was over the moon we won but apart of him must hate himself for what he done in the camp nou and moscow.

If I was in a champions league final and slipped in Moscow with the world watching for the club I love for their first Champions League trophy. Well i'd blubber like a baby.

In hindsight I think we should have played Dave on the left, Hazard in the middle and Willian on the right. Couple more additions to this team and we will be firing on all cylinders

Exactly! It's easy to cast judgement when you have absolutely no idea what that pressure feels like.

Exactly...I'd rather see a player give a sh*t, and Jt has won it all, than show no passion at all...the haters will laugh, make bitchy comments about us regardless....eg the beeb are running a topic today on the web today asking is Jose still the special one...just four days after praising him for tactical master class against Liverpool...shows what bollox media coverage is these days

I thought we edged the first half, but were very poor in the second.

Their equalizer changed the course of the game for me and we never recovered. From the lost 50/50 tackle thorugh to the non-tracking of the man who hit the cross for Adrian to equalise, it was very preventable.

I've not watched any re-run of the game, but my view from the stand was that Luiz was a passenger for most of the game, the A.Madrid players ran past him and he wasn't able to effect them. He didn't offer the back four enough protection and as soon as he/we were having to chase the game, lost whatever discipline he did have and exposed us to their counter-attacks, that little bit more. He was so far away from them, that out 'out-ball' to him from the centre-halves and full backs disappeared.

A disappointing night, what I'm reasonably sure of is that the Manager will learn more about certain players last night and will act upon it.

Anyone having a pop at jt for showing emotion has never played the game at any level!

Honestly we were beaten by a team with more belief today.

Simeone is pretty much doing what Jose was doing with Porto a decade ago. Congratulations to him.

We missed some drive in the middle (Matic will make a massive difference), and it wasn't helped that with Azpi on the right, they triple teamed Hazard knowing we'd pose little threat from the other side. A time will come where we won't be playing two right backs at home in a CL semi-final, a time where we have the courage to take the game on and win it. We're not there yet, but we will be soon enough.

KTBFFH.

My self imposed media blackout is serving me well today...

Anyone having a pop at jt for showing emotion has never been HUMAN at any level.

I don't think anyone is having a pop at JT.  I think we are divided into oldies who think the way for a man to show emotion is to grit his teeth, smile at the opponent, then go home and kick the furniture while letting out a vitriolic string of expletives, and youngsters who think bursting into tears is fine.  When you are old, there will be youngsters who do things in public that you probably will find abhorrent.

Still massively disappointed but I accept we got beaten fair and square.  All the goals where a little scrappy and a bit lucky but I think for the first time in years we've got out of the competition without any controversial decisions.    Was a close match and could have gone ether way just the luck was on their side this time, maybe the lack of an away goal was our major downfall.  Oh well on to next season then and try again.
