He strikes me as a kind of Rossi-type player. Like Man Utd had a few years ago who left and went on to do well at some big clubs. I think he's at Villareal now.

Like you say, I doubt we'll keep him, but it will be a shame.

The youth conveyor belt is spitting out half finished players at a tremendous rate that ithe club are having to sell them on to make space for the next batch. Which is okay in one way as the youth set up pays for itself but the big question is there anyone at the club who can talk half finished players and turn them into first teamers - it doesn't appear so - mainly because the time frame is too short. It's a shame Brendan left but he was never gonna stay long once Jose went.

Due to my excellent investigative skills I have determined that Borini will be given a chance next year.

I come to this conclusion based on the fact that he is in the list of players you can choose to get on the back on next year's shirt :P

Is the Robinho one still there too?

The most talented striker to come through our ranks recently. I think he's better than what our rivals have to offer...Vela...Welbeck...that's all that comes to mind at the moment. The loan was a good move on our part, he's doing great, I just hope we're not trying to put him in the shop window!!

Shame he never seemed to be given a chance here. Maybe we're not seeing something that others are, maybe he's not Chelsea's level, maybe Carlo doesn't want to be seen giving favouritism to a Compatriot? Who knows

Wasnt there something about him not accepting the contract offered to him? I seem to remember hearing his agent (I really wish they would f**k the f**k off) saying he wasnt impressed by the offer.

Maybe he was expecting too much money, but if we can afford to pay the likes of Terry, Drogba, etc... in excess of £100,000 per week. I'm sure we could have afforded whatever he wanted, and then if it didn't work out after a year or so, move him on. It's not like we're desperate for cash.

I think that is why he won't stay, yes. I think it was mainly down to contract-length (the club wanted him to sign a one year extension) and not wages, and because he's refusing to sign he's been frozen out.

I don't understand the benefit of giving him only a one year extension anyway (if that is indeed the case).

I would be looking to give him 3 years or more, and if he's not going to make the grade, we could sell him somewhere...surely.

Its not easy to sell a young prospect (for a club like ours) if the other clubs know that the player is unwanted and is looking to be offloaded. As we saw in the case of Scott Sinclair and to see him perform for Swansea you wonder if that's the "transfer" of the season in all of England.

Such a shame, I was very hopeful of him making it into our 1st team squad. Would be interesting why to see why the negotiations broke down, I hope it isnt another agent f**king up a young promising career with ridiculous promises.

This is a real shame as Borini is clearly a very gifted forward and might have done well for us. Wish him all the best (depending on which club he ends up at...)

I doubt he will stay in England, I bet he will end up back in Serie A.

Didn't think he was ever going to be good enough for us. And considering the position he plays, he was never really going to have a chance here. Only shame is we let him go on a free. Aren't we entitled to some sort of compensation(similar to Sturridge)?
