I'm sure he knows he's going to lose this hearing and he's jumped before he gets pushed. No doubt there will be intense pressure from the media for Chelsea to sack him when he's found guilty. I do not blame the FA for charging him, they are quite right to do so, and I think Terry's statement is disingenuous. The FA had no choice, they have to apply their laws not the law of the land. As I've said all along, JT is guilty of breaching their laws and they do not have to prove the context in which he said those words, rather he does, and he cannot, therefore a guilty verdict will brook no argument from me. You simply cannot be seen to have said those words and not be punished unless you can prove mitigating factors. The FA do not need to do so and anyone who thinks they do has seriously misjudged this case IMO. I expect a guilty verdict and I wouldn't be surprised to see JT appeal to the CAS, where he will probably have the verdict overturned, because the CAS have different laws. Either way Chelsea must stand firm. Accept the ban but do not kowtow to anybody. He is our captain and that must remain so. There is no burden of proof on the FA therefore a guilty verdict should be irrelevant in terms of JT's position at the club. Had he been found guilty in court, different story. Stay strong Chelsea. The sh*t is flying our way.
Anton baited him. He reacted. I suspect he is guilty yet I feel terribly sorry for him. He didn't direct the words at Anton, he directed them at the night sky, in frustration, out of earshot of everybody. He was silly, he is silly but I like JT. I don't think he's a racist I don't think he's a bad person. I think his character is essentially good. Like a lot of young folk, he has made mistakes, but they have been blown out of all proportion. He does not deserve the stick he gets. It is a witch-hunt of grotesque proportions and it is important the club stands by him. Absolutely. Unequivocally. He has given this club so much. I feel desperately sad for him, this will hurt him. Quitting is not in his nature. This will hurt him.
Chris Foy. Anton, Rio. QPR. The Daily Mail. You've had your pound of flesh. Well done. I hope you feel proud. I'm just so sorry he f**ked it all up at Loftus Road. This will delight them no end.
