Tom Daly gets bronze!! Utterly utterly fantastic - 18 years of age. A year after his dad passed, all that pressure on him... What a fantastic athlete for Britain to have, very proud of him.

Rant time.

Too many of the British athletes have the wrong attitude. Too many have said they are happy to be there and too many are happy to have got a bronze or silver. Just watched the diving (not my choice) and Daley was jumping up and down because he won a bronze.

Rant over.

Campbell was excellent kept his distance the whole fight and I wasn't even disappointed that I missed the 4 x 100 relay. And I had money on Mo and was really nervous coming onto the home straight but he dug in and won, I think he should thank his training partner from the US something Rutt who became a human barrier on the penultimate bend.

Strongly disagree with most of this so called rant. An athlete can only perform at 100% of his/hers capacity. Tom Daley is arguably not better than Boudia and Qiu. If anything I'm surprised he even got a medal, I thought before hand that the other Chinese (Lin) would get a podium spot as well. Given Daley's history last year you can see how the medal means gold to him. Daley won bronze, he didn't lose gold. Brazil on the other hand, they lost gold and got silver, since they were massive favorites before the match.

I watched the 50 km race-walk from start to finish, and I must admit that I like it! Congrats to the Russian who pulled it off. That sport must be a killer on the hips, with all that swiveling that you have to do for each stride.

I even like team handball, and was rooting for Montenegro, who have a fantastic keeper.

So glad we got Oscar, the only player out of all these so called Brazilians he showed class, calm and composure, Neymar was f**king awful in the first half !!!!!!

Thank f**k it's almost finished. However much I like Brits, after the first UK gold medal this was turning into The Greatest British w**k Fest Ever, especially on the BBC. I've never heard such leading questions before from the commentators: "How does the atmosphere compare to previous games?" And the guest obediently following the script: "Oh this is unique, I've never seen such an enthusiastic crowd!"

Yuck!

Hehe  apart from our awesome medal haul that's been the best part of these games. 100% unwavering bias.

Probably all commentators are biased when it comes to international competition, but the BBC raised it to new heights. It reminded me of commentary on Steve Gerrard: slavish, blinkered admiration. And you know how horrible that is, don't you!

Anthony Joshua Olympic Champion, next Lennox?

I do like how excited you Brits get when one of your athletes wins golds, people like Ennis, Farrah, etc. I just found out that the American guy won the decathlon, they hardly mentioned that over here in the US.

I said that I hoped the US men would push Jamaica in the 4x1, and we went out there and tied the world record...or at least the old one because Jamaica set a new one. Oh well, 37.04 is still blazing fast, silver's nothing to sneeze at when you're running against Bolt and Blake.

Well USA is a massive country, with the amount of people you have and the amount of money, you're expected to win loads of golds (though it seems about 1/3 of those were in Swimming, which is pretty off-balance with the amount of events it has compared to toher sports), so it's not going to get as much coverage. And considering how much of a tiny nation we really are (the whole of GB could fit very easily into Texas), I think we've done remarkably well, so obviously we are going to be revelling in every gold, as every gold is a new record for us.

It wasn't meant as a slight. I wish we gave more attention to the decathletes or the women sprinters that set world records. Instead, our media focused on Michael Phelps, Lolo Jones (who didn't even medal), gymnasts, beach volleyball, and the basketball team that is full of guys that get media exposure all season long. Oh well.

terrible post...four years hard work and you get to say you're the second/third best in the world at something...it's an amazing achievement...i'd be bragging if I'd ever got to compete at an olympics and finished last in an event, let alone if I won something...sadlynot going to happen for me! Besides, all the GB medalists have contributed to our best olympics in over 100 years
