This for me is the crunch he needs a win in the next three or at least two draws.

Otherwise like you suggest the chances of changing manager will be very high.

I have some sympathy just the number of injuries to key players and influx of so many new players so late would challenge the best, yet the squad would be a great temptation for a top manager with a pre-season.
I think the minimum has to be beating Dortmund, the Spurs and Leeds games are pretty irrelevant at this point

But we have practically a whole new bunch of players now so I don't think the players do stick the knife in or down tools etc. Maybe it is just our club - that the job is so big and the pressure so intense that coaches just can't cope. The top ones manage to for a while - Mourinho, Carlo, Conte and TT. ALL did brilliantly for a while and then all burned out.

Seems we do need a coach who is made of stronger stuff - look how Ten Hag has turned Man Utd around in such a short space of time. Got rid of the trouble players and getting the best out of the likes of Luke Shaw & Rashford. Still like to think Potter could turn it around but it's hard to back that up after Saturday. But I can't blame the current bunch of players as it's something that just keeps repeating itself at our club with totally different squads.

It remains to be seen whether the club let Potter get rid of some of the deadwood and try and do what Arteta has at Arsenal. If we lose our next three games to Spurs, Leeds and CL match, I can't see how he can keep his job.

We've had some bad seaons in recent times amongst all the glory, but this is the worst for some considerable time - especially when you take into account of how much money has been spunked!
Fair points Nibs, though I remain true to believing that, even if Potter is a terrible coach, then thebplayers could still do the job in spite of him. Like they have in the past with Grant and RDM. Yes different players, but still too much quality for them to be this poor. They are choosing to let their standards drop so low.

This set of players are too young and lack leaders to self govern.

He's definitely lost the dressing room at this point, I don't think any manager is bad enough to end up mid table with this group of players. With that being said he's still tactically inept at this level.

And if he has lost the dressing room, it'd be a good idea to cut him loose now to give us a good shot at the Dortmund game, even under a caretaker.

Should we not expect more from our players though? Put the effort in and show that it is Potters tactics, subs and prep that costs us?

Cause them stinking up the place vs a side as bad as Saints does not point the finger at Potter imo, it points to everyone bar Dave, Chilwell and Fofana not giving a sh*t.

Heck put your best in then we cannot doubt your effort and then tell us Potter is not good enough because of x, y and Z. Don't sulk like children.

4) What if we sack him and performances don't change? Sacking a manager for performance-related reasons is always a risk. If the new manager comes in and there is no bounce, you end up with an egg on your face. During the infamous Mourinho season, we had a bit of a bounce when Hiddink came in but it didn't last long and the team pretty much continued playing at the same level for the rest of the season.
I disagree with that. Based on the form table of Hiddink's time we would have been 3 points of UCL places and "only" 11 of the top.

Still not great but absolutely streets ahead of the Jose side of that season.

Think he’ll probably be here for the rest of the season. I can’t imagine a big change for him to convince people he should be kept on but I think the ownership are probably looking for someone else by now and I’d rather they took their time and got it right rather than take Poch, mourinho or an interim.

If a change is to be made I’d hope it’s made before preseason.
I'd rather gamble with a lower division manager (never mind Potter) than bring Jose back.

Thanks for the three titles but if we let him loose on this team he will genuinely butcher everything we are trying to do. Can't stress enough how crucial it is we appoint a correct tactical fit to these players. I can already picture Jose fighting with Mudryk and Enzo, selling Colwill while overplaying an ageing Kante and an already knackered Mount while shoehorning Gallagher into a starting role as his token "look I do promote youth" gesture.

There is no way Jose would be putting Mendy between the sticks  Imagine him watching those clearances from the sidelines!

At least Hodgson was charging only a fraction of what Potter does.

It's no longer a matter of should or could, only Boehly doesn't get it or refuse to admit his errors. He probably think there's a draft next season, if we are the worst in the league we get first pick of everything.

Losing to spurs is never irrelevant.
The bar is so low for Potter I don't have any expectations for that game unforunately, Dortmund at home we could nick a goal back.

We did play Spurs off the park every game under Tuchel, but I highly doubt that will be the case this time

The lack of real LEADERSHIP, on and off the pitch, is the biggest problem that we must overcome !!
Yes, we have seen how JT and Lamps stepped up to be the leaders of their sides and drive us on. I expect Reece and Mason to be doing so now too, and expect a lot more from them in this area.

On the pitch is the killer. During JM's first reign we had leaders on the pitch that made sure everyone performed , now that is missing. Tuchel & Potter are not bad managersz there is no leadership on the pitch constant shuffling of players doesn't help either
