Perfect move for him ... almost guaranteed starter, still in London so no need to move house etc ... obviously not wired the same way Werner is in being prepared to accept a lower wage to actually PLAY football ... I guess we are stuck with him until his contract expires in 2024.

Yeah the majority of these players have huge deals no other club will match, and they are paid far more than their skill is worth, and they would sooner earn the money than play, and ideally be loaned while getting their full pay.

Werner was an exception to the rule.

 
Wh pulling out of the deal because of his wages apparently. Hard to believe that he's been here 4.5 years and only had 1 loan

Supposedly about £75K a week. Quite low in our squad, but probably near the top for other clubs, who aren't going to go all in at that level for a left back ... 

 
Just realised he's not going to the World cup, so he's in no hurry to get game time to prove anything. Still, very poor for a professional player, it's a short career, make the most out of it instead of just collecting pay checks. It's not like he's at the end of the career, he will regret it when his contract is up and no decent teams wants him.

 
Greedy c**t. We're stuck with so many Bogardes who just want their paycheque and don't care about playing.

 
I mean... I'd be happy being paid £75k a week basically just to access a top-of-the-range gym and keep fit. 

Presumably West Ham noticed that he's rubbish. They already managed to get rid of one Masuaku; why on earth would they want another?

Not sure about deadwood, I'd of picked him over a good few others of our current squad!

 
Cast your mind back and Emerson did have some quite decent games for us, but looks like Tommy never got to see those!

Always makes me laugh when people call players greedy for not lowering their wages to leave a club. Wonder how many of us would move jobs to earn less money. Footballers have a very short career, may as well make the most money as you can from it.

Nevertheless, Emerson is gone now. Anyone know what the transfer fee was?

Apparently the fee was £13m which could rise to £15m with addons/ bonuses etc.
