Not bad at all to say he's barely played for us last few years.Apparently the fee was £13m which could rise to £15m with addons/ bonuses etc.

Yep and most careers are over by their early 30's and then they normally need to find another line of work they can't all be pundits or coaches.Always makes me laugh when people call players greedy for not lowering their wages to leave a club. Wonder how many of us would move jobs to earn less money. Footballers have a very short career, may as well make the most money as you can from it.
Nevertheless, Emerson is gone now. Anyone know what the transfer fee was?
That does seem to apply to a phenomenal number of players we have signed. Makes you wonder who scouted them and who decided to sign them. But I guess it’s just part of modern football. Dredging for players for strength in depth and perhaps fear of missing out.like many other players that have come and gone over the years he was never given a decent run of games where he could prove his worth
Ozil was on 350,000 a week at Arsenal. After not playing under Arteta he earned 17.3 million pound. Don’t think he needs to become a pundit or coach!Yep and most careers are over by their early 30's and then they normally need to find another line of work they can't all be pundits or coaches.
I’m always flummoxed when people refer to footballers having short careers in terms of earnings. Imagine Ronaldo in your local B&Q telling you where to find u-bends.Ozil was on 350,000 a week at Arsenal. After not playing under Arteta he earned 17.3 million pound. Dunno about that, pretty sure I've seen Glen Johnson in my local B&Q before.I’m always flummoxed when people refer to footballers having short careers in terms of earnings. Imagine Ronaldo in your local B&Q telling you where to find u-bends.
Let's also not forget they won't be living next door to you nor me as they need security and that is expensive it becomes with being high profile.Ozil was on 350,000 a week at Arsenal. After not playing under Arteta he earned 17.3 million pound. Don’t think he needs to become a pundit or coach!
When you put it like that, poor poor footballers. Perhaps we should set up a charity to help them cope with arranging installation of a burglar alarm.Let's also not forget they won't be living next door to you nor me as they need security and that is expensive it becomes with being high profile.
A lot of them might be good footballers yet might be pretty ignorant in other things.
Ozil will probably be ok as expect he would have got good advice, yet what about the likes of the players from the British working class?
Of course even with Ozil he might attract pressure from other places, Erdogan might lean on him to make donations to charitable cause and don't forget ex-wives and buying family members property too.
The bold part of your post is a bit of a head scratcher to me. Why would players from the British working class not get good advice? I'm assuming most of them, in fact of all high earning athletes and artists from all walks of life, have a financial advisor or at the very least an enthousiastic bank manager. There may be a few players who overestimate their own prowess on the investment market (or are downright stupid), or follow unwise or dodgy advise, but I doubt that has got anything to do with their class, as you put it.Let's also not forget they won't be living next door to you nor me as they need security and that is expensive it becomes with being high profile.

Well previous examples Gazza, Dalian Atkinson, Kerry Dixon. The bold part of your post is a bit of a head scratcher to me. Why would players from the British working class not get good advice? Ronaldo is in a small subset of GOATs unless they have messy divorces will normally be in another class.I’m always flummoxed when people refer to footballers having short careers in terms of earnings. Imagine Ronaldo in your local B&Q telling you where to find u-bends.
I really have no idea what your point is. You pull 3 names out of thin air, presumably because they don't/didn't do well after retiring. Do they support your assumption that British players from the working class don't get good financial advice? At best it's random and anecdotal. And what the hell has Joe Cole to do with it?Well previous examples Gazza, Dalian Atkinson, Kerry Dixon.
Joe Cole is now a pundit has he listened to financial advisers not sure yet it will be a while before we know as they don't go into trouble immediately it is normally 10-20 years down the line.
I’ve read some f**ked up sh*t on this forum, I’ve even contributed some f**ked up sh*t on this forum, but by Christ, you’ve gone into uncharted territory.Ronaldo is in a small subset of GOATs unless they have messy divorces will normally be in another class.
