Dream Treble for Didier Drogba?

Recommended Posts

It's been a dream couple of weeks for an African striker recently named as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential Men. His hat-trick on the final day of the Premier League season secured another title for Chelsea, he snatched the league Golden Boot award from Wayne Rooney and then went and scored the winning goal in the FA Cup Final.

Didier Drogba has reinforced his reputation as one of the planet's leading strikers once again this season and his stunning free-kick in the FA Cup Final was the Ivorian's third Cup Final goal. After netting the winner in 2007 and scoring against Everton in 2009, Drogba completed a hat-trick with his free kick that ultimately saw off a brave Portsmouth challenge. Now, the 32 year old heads to South Africa with the chance of winning an unprecedented treble of medals.

Paddy Power, the leading Irish bookmaker who offer a range of World Cup odds, said, "Drogba has already helped Chelsea to their first ever domestic Double and he now heads to the World Cup with Ivory Coast 30/1 to win in South Africa. Even though they have a tough draw, many punters fancy the Elephants to lead the African challenge in 2010."

It has been Drogba's best ever goal scoring season for Chelsea with 37 goals in just 44 appearances. His 29 goals brought him a second Premier League Golden Boot and the strong striker is a candidate to make it a Golden Boot double by top scoring in South Africa.

Paddy Power added, "A World Cup Winner's medal and a Golden Shoe would round off the perfect season for Drogba. In our World Cup Betting markets, the Ivory Coast hitman is 25/1 to win the Golden Shoe and 50/1 to be named the World Cup's best player. Beating Brazil or Portugal in Group G will be tough, but Sven Goran Eriksson's side could well be the surprise package of the tournament. And, in Didier Drogba, they have a striker who will make history if he can fire his nation to glory."

Quite possible if he gets good support from their star studded team with Toure Bros,Ebou , Keita and Kalou.

But They didn't perform that well in ACN .

With the squad they have I expected them to put up great show and at least reach final but they failed to do so and were beaten by Algeria in Quarters.

And now in WC with Samba boys and Portugal drawn in their group they will have to produce something special to enter even round of 16.

So Drogs has very slim chances over there.

But I would be more than happy if they thrash Portugal side with CR7 playing in it :P.
