Hello,
I'll say at the outset, that I'm a Birmingham City supporter - well someone has to be - so you may be wondering why post on here. Well I happen to see a photograph elsewhere on this site of Bobby Tambling scoring against the Villa back in 66. So anyone who scores against them is alright by me! Of course in that game, he went on the get FIVE...and I was there, at the time the "Boy" at a newspaper office. So picture this, Tambling has scored five, and toward the end of the game is taken off. The Chelsea fans are chanting 'Tambling's retired' after the game, Kenneth Wolstenhome - some of you will remember him - asked me to go and get Bobby Tambling for an interview that would air that night on Match of The Day. I knocked on the dressing room door, asked to speak to Mr Tambling and gave him the message. So together we went across to the interview. "Come on" said Mr Tambling "I'll race you". So here I am imagining he is injured, because of being taken off. But no, he left me for dead!
Before I bore you to death, one final memory of Chelsea! My mate Dave and I were off to Wembley the day Arsenal were playing Swindon in the league cup final. I'm blowed if I can remember why. But on the train going down, we got chatting to some Chelsea fans who were off to the Bridge to watch Chelsea take on Manchester United. So Dave says to me shall we go there instead. OK so off we went and stood in the middle of the Shed. What a game, an absolute cracker! Chelsea win 3 - 2 in front of more than 60.000. Webb, Tambling and Hutchinson got the goals. James and Law for United. It must really have upset United, because the following game they took it out on QPR smashing eight past them. Anyhow....Up the Blues!
