Barnsley fan here. Heard the news about Gianluca Vialli this morning. I knew he'd been unwell but this is still dreadfully sad. Remember his display against us early on in the 97-98 season. Still to this day the best individual performance I've ever seen from an opposition player at Oakwell. Obviously we were shell shocked by the scoreline, especially as we didn't even play particularly badly, but it was a privilege to witness such a masterclass in finishing. I'd grown up watching Vialli in Serie A on Channel 4 as a kid, but seeing him in the flesh was something else. By all accounts he was not just a brilliant player, but an extremely fine gentleman as well. Thanks for the memories Gianluca.
