Romelu Lukaku
I agree he isnt worth the money hes went for but what other options were available out there? Technically he is very weak, but that can be worked on and improved. If he scores the amount of goals hes has been scoring regularly then the fee wont look so big. After all the going rate for players to English clubs is phenomenal due to the money available. Belotti? Moratta? Aubamayang? Thats the only alternatives available, and they will all command a fee of 70m plus.

So your saying he is worth the same as lukaku based on having one good season at Torino? Torres is one player that didnt recover from his injury. RVP to United proved that, PL proven is not extinct. Angel di Maria and Falcao at United and then Falcao at Chelsea showed great players in other leagues dont always cut the mustard in the Premiership. Falcao is excelling now in Monaco, and well ADM is having a better time of things in Paris. Belotti does look the type that would fit in perfectly in the Premier league but theres still doubt as to if he can reproduce the same form over and over again.

So why feel the need to explain yourself?

Thats the going rate now for players due to the money available in the league. Mbappe one good season and is worth over 100m? Same as Belotti and Morata being worth over 70m each, all these players are only worth half that amount and Lukaku is the same. I think United were so grateful for Everton taking Rooney that they bought Lukaku just to offload him.

Belotti has a buyout clause of 85m and although Madrid want to offload Morata they wont do it on the cheap. Would you be happy with an Italian with one good season behind him or a Spanish bit part player who hasnt even managed to be a main striker for any club hes been at? All for similar money to a guy thats proven premier league material and has reguarly scored goals in the Premier league, while the other 2 will be significant unknowns. Can they really do it on a cold night at Stoke?

Romelu Lukaku
Theres nothing to suggest that he will be a success at United, and I dont believe Chelsea even made a bid for him. The interest has been there all summer and because Costa wasnt offloaded the funds werent available to buy him. Whats the alternative now? Belotti, 1 good season and will cost more than Lukaku. Morata - Same thing, bit part player and is going to cost more than Lukaku. All clubs will know how desperate the need is for a striker, especially if Costa is sold. They will hold out for top price as they know there isnt much top talent around for sale. Whereas with United if another top player does come available then they have the funds and the means to purchase that player as well.
