england team is a result of our 'system' in the uk................its the symptom of the problem - over tired players, overpaid and under-skilled - not the cause, so what can we learn;

1. Germany - opened the rules to qualify (so have plenty non-german players), and developed same squad over last 5-6 years, through U21 and into the national senior team. German league has many foreigners though. But theycan be fluid counter-attacking - 433/451 with some pace and decent fullbacks. liken them to mancu

2. Holland - many many foreign players in their league too, but they have based their development on the ajax system developed in the 70's through their academy - so they will always develop skillful players as thats what they look for - but they also have a hard edge, play it direct (often long) but do like diamond or 451 system so flex it. I liken them to chelsea

3. Spain - not so many foreign players, but only 2 seriously good teams and all the good players flow there eventually (10 last night from RM & Barca), they also cherish skillful players and don't worry about size - everything geared to passing - the downside is they go down easily (yes you Iniesta) and can be thwarted by well organised teams. I liken them to arsenal

Italy & France are in as bad a state as we are and need to rebuild.

We need to develop different system and players to match, right thrugh from the U16s, model ourselves on the dutch (a bit less kicking) for next world cup, and spain the one after that.

We can certainly match up against the dutch all over the pitch - so thats step1......................

Personally I do not want to copy the germans open-book policy and would rather keep england for the english (yes bit old fashioned)

clock is ticking - get pearcy out & bring in a manager to develop 433/451

Step 1
