Posted December 29, 200816 yr Did some homework & came up with these most unpopular sales request from Octville & Co. Deco, bought for 8 mil quids, probably worth 6 mil. Ballack on a free transfer but should be worth 5 mil. Malouda, bought for rumored 13.5mil quid, probably worth 8 mil Kalou, undisclosed, but maybe worth 10 mil. ( all figures are based on my arbitrary estimates) So I reckon that we can raise 25-29 mil in our kitty. Actually, I have no logical explanation for signing anyone again who we would not use. Look at Pizarro. He started only 7 games and 20 sub appearances for us. Yet he has gotten 13 in 20 games for Werder Bremen this season. Or Lausanna Diarra, whom we lost to Pompey and now a real prospect at Real. While the likes of kaka, E'to & Messi may not come to the Bridge because Dubai has more kitty at Man City, I have drawn a list of possible prospect. 1. Thierry Henry - I know he is toward the twilight years of his playing career, But he still has 8 goals in 14 games & 4 assists. At 31, he still has much to give & remains very keen to come back to the Premiership, which he is familiar with. He settles well in London, so if we can just tempt him back 2. Likely Brazilian call-up for Juventus' Amauri. Will probably cost much & has proven to be handful this season. Amauri played for lesser clubs like palermo & Chievo Verona before Raineri snapped him this season. Looks like our former Gaffer had a good buy. But he is out of reach as Real reported offered 42 mil quid for him, more than double the price Raineri got him in May.... so it is in my wish list again. 3. Vagner Love & Arshavin - just repeating my previous thoughts & it could be just loan deals. 4. Fabio Quagliarella - Probably a good option. This italian international rose to the ranks through hard work & good working rate. At 25, he is moving into his prime & we can still get decent reward from him 5. Vedad Ibisevic - If anyone has watched the 24-year-old Bosnian and Herzegovinian forward who leads TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, he is Bundesliga's hottest property. He is reportedly interested in Mourinho's Inter, so if we can persuade our beloved that his love is still waiting at the Bridge & all is forgiven with Roman's gift of a sportscar, that will be great indeed. There... I am not sure how much topping up the management can come up with even after the sale of players. For the longer term, I do envisage the development of the Academy to provide locally bred players like Sinclair or Mancienne. But in the immediate future, if we are to mount a serious challenge on any front, I am sure that 80% of the people in this forum will agree with me, not necessarily my choice of players. For those insisting that our expectation must come down, you better support W.B.A. or Sunderland. We almost became European champion in May, we were 2nd in the Premiership after Jose's double winning years. Tell those things to Manure, Scouser or gunner's fans. Who doesn't want success especially when you have reached no less than the quarter-finals of the Champion's League since Raineri's final year? We are Chelsea and we demand success. I am not faulting the team, although I have the occasional vibes against certain players. I think the fault rests with the management for letting Mourinho go, for letting Robben, Diarra & Gallas feel unhappy. It is not Scolari's fault for our performance today, yet he still has to be responsible for tactical blunders. Why did we ever employ anyone who had no club management experience for a long time? You get the drift so I will just stop here
December 29, 200816 yr Octville, I get what you are trying to say here. I really do. But I just really cant understand how so many wrongs can make a right. Your central thesis is that we are Chelsea and we deserve success based on what we have had the last few years. This club has been around for 103 years, and only 6-7 years ago, we would have been happy with midtable mediocrity and financial stability. I agree that we need to spend, as its obvious every matchday that our team is lacking something. But we are not entitled to win anything based on being one of the vaunted "top four". We are there because of a benefactor and a well constructed team, and hopefully that benefactor realizes it could be constructed better than it is in a few days time. As for the rest: -I dont know much about Ibeivec, and I was impressed with Quagrella when I have seen him. But Arshavin and Love will never be loaned out, and Amauri will not leave Juve unless they want him gone. As for Henry coming here, well, I for one would never wanna see that gobby gooner son a of bitch in a chelsea shirt, ever. He can go to man city for his payday -Its alright to have expectations that are REALISTIC without being told "support Sunderland". I dont understand this argument. We are a win away from being league leaders and scoring like never before, but because someone doesnt want Scolari's head on a pike after a bad game theyre the ones out of touch with reality? Riiiight -We didnt make the quarter finals of the CL in Jose's second year. We deservedly lost to Barca, who were better overall. That must have been acceptable back then, as it didnt cost him his job -Management has done a lot of stupid things in the last couple of years at this club, but trying to cater to the whims of William the sour twat crybaby Gallas, and the Amazing bald Faberge swan Arjen Robben were, thank Jesus Christ in heaven, not two of them. We let those bums walk because were human poison for a tightly knit squad. The MISTAKE came in not replacing them with people of similar ability which, mind you, isnt easy. -Scolari hadn't managed a club for many years, it is true. Let me ask you two questions 1. What is he doing, in your view, that speaks to his clear cut lack of club management experience? Please be specific 2. Who else, given the available options last summer, would you have rather appointed?

We are there because of a benefactor and a well constructed team, and hopefully that benefactor realizes it could be constructed better than it is in a few days time. Because we had the money from the benefactor, we have all the ingredient for success. If not now, then when? When he is tired & sell us off to some Madoff fund and we end up bankrupt and go the way of Leeds ? No offence, but if you have all the ingredient for success, shouldn't you at least strive for it? It's like telling Usain Bolt to run 11 sec for every century sprint. The fact that we have the quids, support & building a fantastic fan base means that we should be spoilt for success. If Chelsea was like pre-Roman, I am satisfied with mid-table. Get it? Some people just don't. As for the rest: -I dont know much about Ibeivec, and I was impressed with Quagrella when I have seen him. He can go to man city for his payday Like I said, one man's meat is another's poison. In true Deng Xiaoping's words, it is a good cat as long as it catches rat. It means anyone who can make difference. Other than Lamps & Drogs, I cannot see anyone doing that at the moment. -Its alright to have expectations that are REALISTIC without being told "support Sunderland". I dont understand this argument. We are a win away from being league leaders and scoring like never before, but because someone doesnt want Scolari's head on a pike after a bad game theyre the ones out of touch with reality? Riiiight >> we are bundled out of the League Cup, non-Premiership standard. We qualified for 2nd round CL at the grace of Drogs. Remember Mourinho's words...2nd is 1st of the last? How many chances had we lost going back to the top of the table? Against Magpies? nope...against Goodison Blues...nope. And now it's 3 points after Fulham. Can I have a show of hands how many think we can win either the league or CL this season? ..Thank you. answer is none, without new signings. -We didnt make the quarter finals of the CL in Jose's second year. We deservedly lost to Barca, who were better overall. That must have been acceptable back then, as it didnt cost him his job Ok... oversight on my part. But Mourinho won everything...league (2x), league cup (2X), FA Cup. Hell, throw in the Community Shield as well. He only could not better Grant's achievement of a Champion's league final. -Management has done a lot of stupid things in the last couple of years at this club, but trying to cater to the whims of William the sour twat crybaby Gallas, and the Amazing bald Faberge swan Arjen Robben were, thank Jesus Christ in heaven, not two of them. We let those bums walk because were human poison for a tightly knit squad. The MISTAKE came in not replacing them with people of similar ability which, mind you, isnt easy. I find myself agreeing with you for once. We did not replace them with similar ability all right. Yet we kept spending crap money on Ben T'aim, Pizarro, Sidwell & the list goes on...including Malouda and maybe Kalou. -Scolari hadn't managed a club for many years, it is true. Let me ask you two questions 1. What is he doing, in your view, that speaks to his clear cut lack of club management experience? Please be specific ok. about scolari. Let's have a real look. 1982 - won Alagoano state championship in his first season . ( Where's that? no offence but is it Timbuktoo???) 1987- Gremio ( oh...I get it...Brazil club right? see...I not stupid) Gaucho state championship As far as I know, he had a stint in Kuwait, then returning to Brazil for another title with Cricket...i mean Criuciuma He had great success with Gremio with 6 titles in 3 years, including the Copa Libertadores, then Jublio Iwata, Palmeiras As far as I know, his greatest achievement was winning the World Cup in 2002 (but that's easy with a team like Brazil) While he may have a distinguished 26 years of coaching experience, he has not coach continental Europe at a club level. Scolari's first defeat also signalled the end of Chelsea's record 86 game, unbeaten home run on 26 October 2008. Liverpool won the game 1-0 through a deflected Xabi Alonso strike on 10 minutes. This record stretched back 4 years and 8 months when Arsenal won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in February 2004. Claudio Ranieri was manager at the time. With due respect to the Brazilian national league, Middle Eastern & Japanese football ( throw in internationals for comparison sake), where do you think is the most difficult & best league in the world? THE ENGLISH PREMIERSHIP. That's why Mourinho won so much respect. That's why Alex is regarded as the Warren Buffett of football. Think and dwell on this will you? 2. Who else, given the available options last summer, would you have rather appointed? Roy Hodgson ..And I am serious. Fantasy? Mourinho is still unreplaceable, period !
