My other memory of that day was seeing a group of Chelsea walking down the road after the match and one bloke proudly showing off a Leicestershire constabulary police badge that he had obtained....amazing what you remember as a kid but i was hooked after that match

Remember going to Bromley years ago and those famous wooden benches behind the goal! Are they still there? That was always a decent old fashioned ground that i liked going to

Leicester away in 89 was a huge turn out(same day as Hillsborough) I was 11 at the time but still remember how poor the officials were that day and all the off field activities. Remember being outside afterwards and could hear fighting, smashing glass and police sirens in the distance as the old bill tried to stop more Chelsea getting up this road. I stood on the window seal of some typical northern terraced house to get a better look of the trouble before looking through the window and among all this madness there was some old dear sat in her living room simply doing her knitting and totally oblivious of what was going on outside!

Vintage Blues pictures and film
New to this site but just wanted to say a big thank you all the contributors in this section. Always the first section i go to and some incredible old photos and brilliant discussions. Followed Chelsea since being a kid and was lucky enough to be mascot in 86(aged 8) against Tottenham and continued go to most matches until around 2003. Some of the best memories in my life have come from following this club (funnily enough when we were sh*t!) and i know things change but its a shame that my kids will never get to experience the real Chelsea that we all remember

I can completely understand that, never liked that ground even before the ground sharing took place. Live down in Dorset now but still follow Hendon as and when i can and always use to watch them when i wasn't able to get to a Chelsea match. Can remember going to the old Dulwich ground as a kid and being amazed at the size of the place for a non league club considering there was only a couple of hundred there and it is nice to see them doing well for themselves

Just a word about the non league team that i follow and who i know have quite a few old school Chelsea supporters among their support - HENDON who play in the Ryman Premier Division. After 8 years since having to leave their Claremont Road ground and having had to ground share at Wembley and Harrow, they now start the new season in a home of their own at Silver Jubilee Park, Townsend Lane, West Hendon, NW9 7NE. To entice new supporters to follow them at their new ground they are playing a friendly against our annoying little neighbors QPR on Monday 18th July 19.30 kick off time and this is a 'pay what you want' admission fee, so you pay as much or as little as you want for your admission. Also for future league matches, if you show that you have a season ticket for Chelsea or any other pro club then you will gain admission for just £5. It has taken years to get Hendon back to having their own ground and would be great to get more supporters through the turnstiles as it is quite a miracle how this fans owned club has survived without a home ground for 8 years.
