Spot on. I get it's a sign of change by signing experience and backing the manager but really? I've even seen comparisons to Thiago Silva...but the key difference is he had been a world class defender and was still a top, top player, who improved the starting XI. Xhaka is none of those things. If he was a key figure of the so called 'banter era' at Arsenal, then what does this say about us? It's a sign of the decline of the club. I always said to my Arsenal mate that Xhaka at best would have lasted 2 seasons in the Roman era before getting binned off. He's slow, one footed, not great when pressed and about to turn 34. Then add the pointless bookings he has picked up over the years, it's not like he is going to improve the discipline either. Sure, he's done well helping Sunderland to Europa League but we should be aiming for the very top and he just isn't it.
