I couldn't watch it tonight...next footy show I tune into will be our semifinal...I have given up on chelsea, title race, being discussed in a fair positive manner...the pro Liverpool agenda makes it unbearable

Mike Dean was dreadful, but as is always the case, you rarely complain about the ref if your team has played well.

Chelsea were sh*t today, Ramires and Schwarzer in particular.

It is unbearable. And it's so pervasive. Every football show is stuffed with ex-Liverpool players peddling the party line. Seriously, they're like the Moonies. How can any other club expect a fair shake? Last week we had Hansen embarrassingly defending Suarez' antics against City with a straight face. Did they even mention Skrtel punching the ball clear? Tonight they all decided it was a clear penalty, mocked anyone who might disagree, and were careful not to even show half of Dean's cock ups, let alone discuss them.

I bet even our CL semi will have a couple of Mousers on the panel!

 
Never liked this guy. If anyone remembers back a few years to an away game we drew with Fulham (think it was a draw could have been a loss though) and the sniveling worm came on to gloat how right he was with the choices he made after being criticized by our boss?

He made himself look like a Human Turd, and ever since that game that is how I refer to him as.

 
This game has really solidified my belief that key decisions are being awarded to nudge Liverpool towards a title win this season or to nudge Chelsea away from the title. Looking at some of the events that have unfolded in the last couple of months, it would seem to support it.

I mean, where on earth did this sudden surge from Liverpool come from? Coincidence that they started getting a tonne of pens going their way? As I have said before, it is abnormal and I have never seen anything like it before, for a team to suddenly come out of nowhere during the closing stages the way they have.

Then when you look at the Villa game. Another important match for us, being given a referee who is proven to be anti Chelsea and unable to withstand home fan pressure at an away match. We all know how that unfolded.

Then to be handed a ref who was pulled from a match because of affiliation with Liverpool at a pivotal match which could decide ours and Liverpools title bid, then to be victim to another slew of bad decisions, not only from the ref but the linesmen too?

This goes high up within the FA in my opinion. One ref can have a poor match, that can happen. But a whole team of linesmen too? Makes you wonder what instructions they were given prior to the match. I find it very hard to swallow the fact that an entire team of officials can have an off day on the same match twice during important fixtures.

I do have some other thoughts but I'll keep those to myself but the bottom line is, we have been screwed heavily this season.

I'm not saying our team has played great during those games either. I knew we were in for a dreaw at best when i saw Schwarzer and Ramires on the team sheet. Schwarzer couldn't stop a beach ball from going into a five a side goal. But never for a second should we have lost today.

I just hope we do the business in the Champions League, because I don't think the FA are going to allow us to win the league this term. A sad fact, but true and I stand by this.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I don't doubt for a second you all will  :biggrin:  ), but didn't Mike Dean have the 2006 FA Cup Final taken off him because the FA had doubts about his ability to be impartial where Liverpool were concerned?.

So, yesterday we have a lino who's day job is with Liverpool city council and used to play junior football for LFC, and a ref who the FA already believe can't be trusted not to help Liverpool out?.

Oooppps!!!,..... I think my tinfoil hat might have slipped a little!!,...... :laugh2:

 
I really don't believe in conspiracy theories and I think Jose is just deflecting.

But, Overbo aside, its funny how we dont have that many problems with refs in the CL. When you compare the standards, CL is much better.

 
I agree , it's just deflection. Ref had a mare yesterday but we were sh*te. Should be out of sight against the bottom team at home and shouldn't need to hunt for excuses, this 'they won't let us win it' stuff is boring nonsense.

We haven't been good enough in the league and that's why we won't win it.

Nor do I as a general rule. I just find it a little curious that given that the FA have already expressed a lack of confidence in Mike Dean's impartiality where LFC are concerned that he was appointed to take charge of that game yesterday, things like that will always fuel suspicions. I know it didn't breach any rules because Liverpool weren't actually playing in the game, but the ramifications must have been obvious?

Still, in all fairness it's probably nothing more sinister than the powers that be being asleep at the wheel (surely not!!). And whatever, it doesn't alter that Chelsea were crap yesterday. That said, has there ever been a title winning side that didn't play like sh*te a good handful of times over a season and get away with it?.

Fwiw I agree with your CL point as well.

I think folk are really clutching at straws if they think Dean is the reason we didn't take 3 points yesterday and keep up the pressure on the dippers. Sure we have cause to moan a bit but a few questionable decisions against a side like Sunderland should not make the difference. This was hardly Overbo vs Barca FFS!

Too many of our players didn't have the ability or mental strength to get past a hard working but very average Sunderland side. Looking back the crunch decision was when we broke 3 on 2 and Willian decided to pass to Eto'o instead of Salah who would have been clean through. Then there was the awful Ba miss, where once again he reverted to clumsy and awkward (if that had been Torres, the Torres thread would have gone into meltdown).

I'm disappointed at our lack of mental strength yesterday. I would have expected a Mourinho drilled team to have coped better. Diddn't see JT taking control as leader and what Faria was playing at on the touch line certainly didn't help matters - he will get the book thrown at him for that and rightly so.

We need to put it behind us fast and be ready for Athletico on Tuesday and I pray everyone plays a lot better than they did yesterday and that Hazard is fit again.

 
There are some GIFS floating around now on the net that show the "Penatly" from the right angle. Dave slipped and rushed back and threw his body in front of altidore to stop a cross. Only contact mad was Altidore slipping himself and actually stepping on Dave's foot. 

Mike Dean should be fined. I know we don't use video replay in-game, however when a match is finished, surely someone reviews the refs calls?

 
Mike Dean shouldn't just be fined. If I had my way, I would have Mike Dean, Chris Foy and Mike Riley sacked and put before a court on match fixing charges. Between the three of these c**ts, they have completely changed the league table.

I mean, its stuff like that that makes me cringe -  I am sorry mate, but that is just such a ludicrous and over the top thing to say. First thing i red on here this morning is that 'the FA wont let us win it' - i almost shut the pc down and went back to bed. Its the type of stuff that gets posted on here from other rivals forums and then is instantly lapped up and mocked. If its tongue in cheek then fine, but suggesting max fixing ? Really ? it just makes us look silly and bitter, things people often mock Arsenal and Liverpool fans for. And we are certainly better than that and better than them too.

Sure, weve certainly had our fair share of bad decisions, but had we also had some fortune too.

We are where we are in the league table because we have lost to Sunderland, Palace Stoke, Newcastle and not won other games like West Ham and WBA x 2, and missing hundreds of chances. Blaming the officials is convenient and in my opinion pointless -  we are where we absolutely deserve to be. The level of seethe coming out of the Bridge yesterday was very high, it was a shocking result but lets at least try to keep some dignity!
