Our sponsors

Featured Replies

With the CFC looking to cut costs and find new ways to make money I often wonder about the situation with our sponsorship deals.

I know we have Samsung and Thomas Cook, but am I wrong to think that a club of our stature should be doing much better on that front?

I know we're still in crisis but really, what is the point of all these summer overseas trips and significant domestic and European success if we can't use it as a foundation to get new major endorsements?

Anyone with a better understanding and expertise on the subject is welcome comment on the matter and help me understand.

Well according to websources we are making £10 million a year from Samsung for the shirts, and £10 millions a year from Adidas for the shirt manufacturing rights. Thomas Cook are giving us £6-£7 million over 4 years, so thats just over a million a year.

So we're looking at around £22.25 a year from those sponsors alone....hardly short change.

In comparison United have got a £80million 4 year deal with AON, but are arguably a lot bigger in the international marketing stakes (and this deal was made a year ago, whilst Ronaldo was still at United I believe).

I remember when Samsung signed on as our sponsor, it believe was a 5 year, 50 million GBP deal. Apparently we extended that deal last year, I dont know how much for. (might be getting this confused with the Adidas deal)

I am not sure about the going rate for them now, but I think AON is giving manchester united in the range of 20/year, and Liverpool are getting in the high teens from Standard Chartered. I would think our new deal would be in that region, or a little higher than the old one
