Premier League melting pot: Chelsea unique in England in fielding 100% international line-ups every game

By Brian Sears

12 October 2010

The international break provides an opportunity to take stock of the multinational melting pot that is the Premier League, and late last week we presented snapshots of the number of international players by club, and a breakdown of the 60 nations represented by full internationals in the Premier League so far this season.

Today, sportingintelligence looks at some individual club case studies, including Chelsea here; they have used 14 different players from nine different nations as starters in League games so far this season.

The most common nationality of Chelsea starting players so far has been English (three, all full internationals), followed by Brazilian, French and Ivorian (two each, all internationals).

Chelsea are the only Premier League club this season so far to start every League game with a full team of full internationals.

Chelsea, along with Bolton and Newcastle, have used the fewest number of different starters (14).
