Backbiter Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Had to laugh at this piece on their website about football heartbreak: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...nuffed-out.html Turns out one of their reporters - Peter Ferguson - is a Leeds fan whose heart was broken by us beating them in 1970. This might explain that paper's pathological hatred of all things Chelsea, I suppose. Anyway, here's his personal sob-story about the game: Chelsea 2 Leeds 1, 1970 FA Cup Final replayWe cut school at dinner-time and took the special train over the Pennines to Old Trafford. It was to be Leeds' night after Eddie Gray had tormented Chelsea at Wembley. Ominously, Chelsea fans had the favoured Stretford End. Peter Osgood's brilliant opener was wiped out by Mick Jones, Dave Webb bundled the ball into the Leeds net in extra-time. A wave of disbelief swept a Scoreboard End waiting for a whistle that never came. It was the night I knew, with teenage certainty, there was no justice. Peter Ferguson It was the night that proves you don't even remember one of the all-time classics of the game, you muppet. So Osgood's header wasn't the most beautiful, dramatic equaliser I've ever witnessed, was it? It was in fact the opening goal, was it? I know I was only 8 and you were a teenager whose career involves writing about football, but I know when you are talking out of your backside.
clubhappy Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Probably one of FA Cup historys most famous games and the stupid c**t cant remember who scored first . Thats just embarassing . Which leads me to believe he's making it all up, he probably watched it drunk one night and thought 'Hey, i'll write something on this one day.
