Drogba + Anelka = Silverware

Featured Replies

No doubt in my mind that Big Phil needs to find a way to get both Drogba and Anelka on the pitch at the same time for the full 90 minutes.

Whether that means going to a 4-4-2 or using one of them as an attacking midfielder i don't know. but you only have to look as far as last seasons Champions League semifinal when the pair hooked up for a wonderful strike just before the whistle of the first extra time period.

These are 2 world class players that can create havoc for any back 4.

Klitch many of us have been saying the same thing for a very long time. Where I differ with your view is that it must be with both of them up front close together, not one of them stationed out wide or playing deeper.

I was one of those on here who really wanted the Anelka signing to happen. Mainly because Anelka has always performed at his best playing next to another striker and I felt the Drogba/Anelka partnership could be awesome. Pace and strength combined. That they have hardly been used together in that way is totally baffling to me because it works. You mention the CL semi, but just look at the 2nd half of the Arsenal away game last season for conclusive proof.
