  1. Well I absolutely trust you with this. It's just a feeling I had and a common belief outside the UK. Glad to hear it's a wrong one. When we consider how brilliant English clubs have been in the past in CL, it would be a shame for them not to consider it seriously and a serious offense to history. But I still dont understand why English clubs (I'm referring to the spurs or West Ham, premier league underdogs kind of), with the quality players they have do not perform any better in Europa league. Anyway, Cant wait for this game to start. So glad Pastore will start this one. That we can perform at high level without Verratti remains to be seen, never occurred before. It will be a tough one, 50/50 for me. Chelsea showed during the first leg that they clearly match us. Nothing unexpected for a team with players such as Willian, Costa, Ivanovic, Fabregas, etc in its mist.
  2. I am both surprised and reassured to read this. From France, we have the feeling that English teams and their fans do not really give a f**k about the CL and Europa league cause the Premier league is so intense, so wealthy also and the competition so fierce that it's actually the only thing that matters. This is what we thought explained the recent poor performance of English teams in european competitions lately. The premier league is self sufficient kind of, no need to perform in Europe for both the money and the prestige as the premier league is already considered as the one true championship. Clearly, premier league teams, due to the TV rights, could overlook Europe. They dont need it to market their brand and surely they dont need the 50 millions in case you win it. But maybe Chelsea is different from its peers due to their connection with the CL over the past ten years.
  3. A red card for Ibrahimovic would be a good start ^^
  4. It seems like Matuidi will be able to play. Verratti has not been training with the rest of the team for 7 days now. No way he can start in my opinion. Pastore is said to take the spot of Verratti in the midfield (There is also the alternative Rabiot but Pastore seems to have the lead) Again Lucas, for weird reasons I am not quite getting, will play instead of Cavani. So PSG team will be : Trapp Marquinhos Silva Luiz Maxwell Motta Pastore Matuidi Lucas Di Maria Ibra Quite a decent team in my opinion, I look forward for Di Maria and Pastore to play together. I don't know why Blanc keeps setting Cavani on the bench. He has been so lucky that Cavani scored at the end on the first leg which brought back Cavani from the dead but yet he won't try to take advantage of it, I just dont get it. Everyone in France says Matic would be there. Yet none of you seems to include him in the most likely team. Is he still injured or has he been a disappointment lately ?
  5. lol Well obviously we dont agree so there is some sort of division between those who consider Matuidi is vital to our midfield play and others who claim Matuidi's indispensable work is like the Lochness Monster everyone talks about but remains to be seen. Matuidi's performances all over the seasons were absolutely disgusting imo. There is no objective reason for him to start except that voodoo belief that he might somehow be vital to our play that appears in comments such as your "we can't perform without him in the midfield in CL games". I am sorry but this explanation is poor, wouldn't you think ? Matuidi USED to be helpful, yes. His workrate WAS great yes. This season he sucks, period. He does not make any ball-winning challenges anymore, he just runs on the pitch, commits 3 to 4 fouls a game and scores one goal every 2 months or so.
  6. Well Matuidi is a cause of division among PSG fans. Some think exactly like you and that we cannot afford to lack the pressure he puts on the opponent playmaker. Others, like me, think we cannot afford to not play with Pastore who could apply some kind of pressure on Fabregas as well and bring his vision and some key passes which we absolutely need especially when Verratti is not there. Anyway we shall see but would we play without Pastore and Verratti, I really think Chelsea will pass. Furthermore, on a psychological dimension, what message do you send to your opponent by doing everything you can so that Pastore, who has been enormous in every game vs Chelsea, starts on the bench and put Matuidi/Rabiot instead? It shows fear, not confidence. And as some of you mentioned earlier on, the key for PSG would be to score 1 or 2 goals, not to aim for a 0-0 and Blanc 'll send a weird message to both his troops and opponents by setting up a team with an obvious lack of creativity.
  7. You shouldn't be afraid of Matuidi playing this one. Quite the opposite actually, you should hope he actually makes it. This player is a fraud. Some praise that he does one hell of a job by running to the four corners of the pitch but this should be the strict minimum for a professional player. Matuidi lacks the technical abilities and the discipline. When our team fights to recover the ball, he commits an incredible number of stupid and dangerous fouls giving the opponent 3 to 4 very good free kicks per game, and when we do have the ball, well, let's just say he looks like a mix between pacman and a pruner. He is just living on the 4 goals he scored in August which is btw absolutely not what is required of him. Matuidi is just an average left midfielder with basic technique and great mentality. When he got injured last week, everyone that I know was praying for him not to be able to play the game vs Chelsea because we all know it would be the only way for Blanc to play with Pastore, Di maria, Ibra and Cavani. And now Blanc wants to put him on the field even if he is not at 100% of his physical abilities which is his only strength?? Verratti is another story. We cannot play a decent game without him because Blanc, again, never cared to try an other organisation than his 4-3-3 with an aging Motta and a fraud like Matuidi who lets Verratti do all the work in his stead. I really think Verratti will be there, it looks just like disinformation to me.
  8. I agree. Chelsea will need Costa and Hazard to play at a much higher level
  9. Pff what an intense game. Surely its different from what PSG is accustomed to play every week end. As I expected, Chelsea has more than enough talented players to mess with every tie in Europe. I was surprised by Baba, very good performance from him, never heard of that player before. Willian is a beast. Best player on the pitch by far and of course his corners and free kicks are deadly. Hazard and Di Maria have seen better days. Marquinhos was perfect (even though his placement as RB was a bit new to him). Maxwell is getting old but f**k is that player smart. Fabregas talent is spoiled when playing that close to his back line (but surely Mikel needed a technical player next to him [should have been matic as I understand]) Great Kevin Trapp. Pastore is the best offensive player of Paris. He showed so much during the 10 minutes he spent on the pitch... Second leg is full of promess. Terry and Matic in for Chelsea, Verratti at 100% and Pastore back for us.... It will be tight, for sure, but I think that Paris will pass if Hazard and Costa don't catch up with Willian.
  10. Pff 6 more hours to kill. I have not watched enough games from Chelsea this year to have an opinion on particular players such as John Terry. Only heard he might leave at the end of the season and was a bit surprised as I remember him as one of the best best centre back of the 21st century. I was confident his absence would be a huge loss for your tie but here (in France) experts claim it might be a blessing in disguise for Chelsea since it would draw Ivanovic (who is allegedly not performing well) out of the RB to the centre where he would supposedly be better. Would you guys agree ? My biggest concerns are Fabregas and Willian. I've seen enough of the first to hope Matuidi will be able to stop him without conceding too many free kicks for the latter to enjoy. I thought we had the best team regarding corners and indirect free kicks with players such as Silva, Luiz, Marquinhos, Cavani, etc. but i also remember that we have been endangered on every kicks and concedes a lot of goals to your back line (Ivanovic, Cahill) or Schurlle. Its been the key of the former confrontations. Might be the case this year as well. Cannot wait for the game to start. Productivity at work is minimum !
  11. Good morning fellow Chelsea fans ! First of all I would seize this opportunity to thank you and all Englishmen for your support and your thoughts back in November. Regarding the coming game, I think it will be a couple of fairly opened games and yes PSG is favorite as I assume most of football observers would consider it normal for the PSG to reach the 1/4 finals considering the current states of the two teams. I personally fear Chelsea a lot because you are more used to that kind of games than we are. I have read the previous comments and it seems that what you "fear" most is our midfield. We indeed have high quality players in that area but having Verratti and Pastore at a non 100% condition is a huge liability. Matuidi is seen by most of you as a top player but I (and many PSG observers) think he is just an ok player surrounded by formidable ones such as Motta and Verratti who are in an other league. Regarding the Aurier case: I couldn't care less about this player who is overvalued in my opinion. Marquinhos is a far better player, 10 times smarter, more precise and very difficult to overplay. He is a fantastic defense player that could be compared to Ivanovic somehow. Our team is better with Aurier off who concedes so many free kicks and relies only on his physical abilities to catch up with his misplacement on the pitch. Finally regarding our coach, Laurent Blanc's work is praised by most but I personally think his management over the last year is the cause of the loss of Cavani, Lavezzi and Pastore to some extent. So we show up against one of the most regular teams in CL with a row of three attackers/offensive midfield players (Ibra, Di Maria, Lucas/Cavani) with: - Ibra: not a single good set of games in the 2nd phase of the CL (except his two goals versus Arsenal when playing for Barcelona that I think you particularly enjoyed^^) - Lucas or Cavani : a disappointment. Lucas being Lucas and Cavani being the shadow of the player he used to be (I blame Blanc for that) when we could have relied on a fantastic four with Pastore, Di Maria, Ibra and Cavani would the team management have been any better. I wish the ones of you coming to the Parc des Princes a great journey and I hope we (PSG fans) would be able to welcome you properly and thank you for your nice gesture after the shootings.
  12. Actually you should remain cautious if you decide to buy a ticket outside the away section because my beloved government is experiencing some issues with civil rights and might deny you the right to enter the stadium if you are a chelsea fan even if you did legally purchase a ticket.
  13. PSG club has set up an online market place where supporters can sell their tickets. Its totally safe and prices vary a lot. Its on Viagogo, you should check it eventually
