Ligue 1 leaders Paris St-Germain held by Lille after resting key players

A much-changed Paris St-Germain saw their run of 16 consecutive wins ended following a 0-0 draw with Lille on Saturday.

Parc des Princes witnessed its first goalless draw in Ligue 1 for more than a year as Laurent Blanc rested the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Thiago Motta and Maxwell ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash with Chelsea.

Lille, beaten 6-1 last time out in Paris, rode their luck at times as they held on, with PSG extending their unbeaten run in the league to 35 games.

Kurt out, JT may be out. Is it even possible to effectively park the bus with the two defenders out? Should they go for it up front and try to get as many away goals as they can even if it means conceding some chances, with the hope that Thibaut will save them?

Oscar is dealing with a calf problem; that's why he wasn't there today. It would be another setback if he can't play.

I think this will be determined by Costa and Courtois.

16 consecutive wins in the league for them. That's ridiculous. Very too easy.

Well big match. I hope Guus has done his homework. We need to get his first leg right.

It will be interesting to see how the club/players view the CL. Obviously not CL next year unless we win it. Do they truly believe we can win it? I don't but hopefully the players are at least motivated to give it their all.

I have a good feeling about this, not that my feelings matter or have predicted things accurately. PSG may have become complacent and taking victories for granted. Our players have more to prove and want it. If they don't win this, it'll be the last Champions League round for more than a year unless they leave.

I'm more pessimistic about City. Don't see us winning that one :(

We're gonna have such a tough time dealing with their midfield. Matuidi has unbelievable energy and Veratti is a tenacious little man, not to mention they also have options in that Motta can sit deep or they can go attacking by having Di Maria in midfield.

I really don't know if we can deal with their midfield as our midfielders can't really outpass them, nor can we really outrun them. I think the game will be won in midfield.

We can keep Ibrahimovic quiet, and we shouldn't have too many issues with their wingers -- although I can see Baba getting exposed if he's isolated.

I'm not feeling confident about this match but hopefully Guus has something up his sleeve.

The team I'd put out:

             Courtois

  Azpi---Ivan---Cahill--Baba

       Mikel----Fabregas

 Hazard---Oscar---Willian

              Costa

It'll come down to Courtois. He needs to be on fire. He hasn't shown that form this season, but we know he has the potential.

Goal is a weaker position for PSG. Maybe if we attack as much as they do, we can force a high scoring game and try to at minimum lose by 1. Then we can park the bus and aim for a 1-0 in the second leg, putting us ahead on away goals.

Awfully risky strategy though. If I were the manager I probably wouldn't follow it myself haha

they have better quality (on paper) all over the park than us, but now the team have a bit more freedom to play and aren't held back to hold out for a 0-0, i think we'll see a lot more of an open game. i don't expect it to be too open as we'll want to still get a draw or narrow win. i believe veratti won't be playing, so that's a bonus for us at least. baba (if he plays) needs to stay tight as f**k to di maria and be alert because he's their top assist maker at the moment and is dangerous from outside the box.

motta thinks it will be a more difficult game for psg now we don't have mourinho.

Baba shouldn't play LB in this game, Guss should bring in Miazga for Terry then baba should play LW because of his dangerous crosses and he can also fall back at times to protect Azpilicueta and the defence. I miss Ramires, he could have played RB for us so Ivanovic can play CB.

Tough to lose our first choice centre-backs going into this game. I'd have fancied us to do well otherwise. Baba Rahman and Ivanovic are going to have put in solid displays if we’re to have a chance of getting a decent result now. The way we backed off for the Newcastle goal yesterday doesn't inspire confidence. PSG have a formidable strike force and we're going to need a lot of luck and some good defending to keep them at bay.

I was jut coming on to post the same:  http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2016/2/14/10988436/serge-aurier-verratti-pastore-concerns-psg-chelsea?_ga=1.5918451.1983825573.1432878579

He said that Blanc sucked Zlatan's balls.

It also looks like Verratti and Pastore aren't going to start on Tuesday - not 100% match fit.

This is an away game for us so please do not think a scoreless draw is good result for us.. we need to attack them.. The manner we went out last season as well as that against atletico madrid 2 seasons ago still leave a bitter taste..

You know that feeling of "your names on the trophy", I get that feeling with PSG, after the awful year the residents of Paris have had, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

We need to soak up pressure and spring out on the counter, yes it's an obvious tactic that will not surprise them, but we can surprise them and be less obvious with our team formation.

We cannot rely on our home leg to make up any deficit, we need to surprise them in the first leg, they will be expecting a compact and compressed Chelsea team, they will set up to break us down, but we have Cesc for the out ball, and we have got the quality and speed up front to get on the end of them. But we have to widen the pitch up, we can't afford to give up the wings, we have to go for the win in Paris.

5-4-1

---------------------Tibo

---------Ivanovic---Cahill---Terry-----------

Dave-------------------------------------Baba

-----------------------Matic

----------------------Cesc

------Willian----------------------Hazard

----------------------Costa
