You're right that there's no guarantee we would have won those trophies, but I honestly doubt that we wouldn't have won even one of those without Cahill. He wasn't critical to any of them. The closest would be the CL in 2012 where he did play well in the final, but i think a lot of players could have done the job he did. It was nothing special.

Interesting you mention goal saving blocks and clearances but don't mention mistakes and the many times Cahill gets easily beaten. As for the goals, well I'd trade all those goals if it meant we could replace Cahill with a solid defender like Azpi (hasn't been at his best recently, but in general) hes never been close to the likes of prime Terry and Carvalho and has always been short of that level.

He was a part. Not a huge part. A part. And Not a part that couldn't have been played by the likes of Phil Jagielka, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling or any other average centre back. Bang average player. Always has been, always will be.

He didn't play a role in any of those trophy wins that any other half decent CB couldn't have. And the problem with Cahill starting is that we have better options at the club who should start over him.

What's him being captain got to do with me talking about him not being a very good player? Besides, he never should have been made captain in the first place. Azpi or Luiz would have been better choices.

I appreciate that he's played in good teams, but he's never been more than an average player. The likes of Wes Brown, John O'Shea and Ji sung park played a lot of minutes in Man Utd title winning teams and all were average players. i aint saying he's terrible, but he's just not very good and there's no reason why he should be starting at all any more considering we have 4 better options at centre back.

Historically he's always been a weak link in our team. He has never been world class or in the top 5 CBs in the league. Just a fairly average player that has no business being in our first team. I've always felt we can upgrade on him and we have two potential upgrades in Christensen and rudiger. Either should be starting ahead of him.

All he can do are last ditch blocks because he's messed up in the first place, which is why it's come to that. He's always got an error in him as well. i never feel secure with him on the pitch. Never.

Batshuayi reminds me a lot of Kalou in that people don't like the dude, but he scores important goals off the bench. Players like him are important for any team to have.

This dude is really bad, a weak link in our team. Both Christensen and Rudiger are way better. Conte made a big call dropping the captain last season, he needs to do it again. Failhill will cost us if he doesn't.
