Funny read, but I believe that both Mount and Pulisic benefitted from the change in formation. Tuchel teams are the places where wingers go to die. Happened at Dortmund and at Chelsea and Pulisic was not the only one that lost form under him. Mount, while effective in the 3-4-2-1, has more options in the 4-2-3-1 and it showed this weekend. Mount is much better in the CAM role than Pulisic, but I think Potter has a chance to get the best out of them both as well as Sterling by switching formations. Now it is up to the players to perform.

Glad for Pulisic. As an American, I like CP but agree that under Tuchel he was crap (pretty much the same under Tuchel at Dortmund also by the way). The problem there is that Pulisic is a winger (better on the left than right but can play either) and Tuchel does not play with wingers but wants more AM under the striker. Pulisic can play as a second striker but again not his best position. If he can stay healthy and get some consistent match time on the wing, I think we will see a much better player than what he has shown the last couple of year. By the way, I think Mount is perfect in the cent of the 3 behind the striker. Not sure if you have the defense for a 4-2-3-1 right now but really think it is a much better fit for all of your attacking options.

The problem for Pulisic is there is not a position for him in a 3-4-2-1 system that Tuchel played. He still may not be good enough, but he is much better playing one of the outside attacking positions in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Even think Sterling would have ended up having the same issues over the long run playing under Tuchel. No I am not saying Pulisic is as good as Sterling but their strengths are in similar areas. I think Chelsea (and Spurs) are very limited in playing a system that relies that much on the WBs to attack. Great when the WBs are great, but if injured or out of form, it is very hard for other players to pick up that slack.

For those of us Americans wondering why you bring him on in the 60th if he was too injured to start, there are plenty of examples in pro sports all over the US where guys minutes, plays, at bats, etc. are limited because of a knock but they still play part of the game. Difference is in soccer, you don't have the luxury of playing them for 5 minutes at a stretch or using them only as a DH. They are either on the pitch or not. No problems with what Frank did plus, he gets 30+ minutes of match play/fitness without getting overly fatigue which is when reinjury typically happens.
