So Called Dave got a reaction from Backbiter in Weird StuffBack in the 70s, things happened that just never happen now. There was a home game against Ipswich where Alan Hudson hit a wide shot that went into the goal through the side netting and it was given, contributing to a 2-1 win I believe. Then there was a Cup Winners Cup tie where the opposition had a bloke in glasses and another with only one arm. The aggregate score was 21-0 then Chelsea got knocked out on away goals in the next round. There was another game around Christmas where all the goalies were unavailable and David Webb played the entire game between the sticks. Chelsea won 2-0 against Ipswich I seem to remember.

So Called Dave got a reaction from The Rising Sun in Fundamental IssuesHello everyone, as I see it , there are two massive issues affecting Chelsea's ability to return to being a top side that can challenge for Top 4 and maybe actually win something again.
The first is the constant reality that we buy highly-rated players, often at outrageous prices, and they just look very ordinary at best in a Chelsea shirt. The wow factor that heralds a really good addition to the side never seems to materialise. Rice at Arsenal, Maddison at Spurs [Havertz being a predictable exception]... why can't we get someone that actually plays well and looks even vaguely worth the money?
The second is the massive injury list that hasn't abated over the whole of last season and this one. Perpetual double figures in injuries including many of our best players or most promising new signings. Poch and others before him are having to pick teams that are at least 4-5 players short of a first choice line up. No side can function properly when there are so many players unavailable.
