Enzo Maresca - Chelsea "Head Coach" *Official NOW SACKED*
interestingly, last season, this was a fairly consistent criticism of our team. There was zero change in intensity, regardless of the score. if we were 1-0 down with 5 minutes to go... same, slow, possession based build up. We never really seemed to change gears. Enzo wants games to be controlled, not chased. it's REALLY infuriating as a fan!

Daka Scored 7 goals in the championship... Kelechi scored 5.... they both made 20 appearances or more....... i'm not sure that screams "too good for the championship".... anyway... I didn't come on here to talk to you lot about Leicester, so I'll stop derailing the conversation! lol....

44% of people expect us to get relegated.... i'm hyper realistic, not hyper negative. Albrighton WAS amazing for us... he wasn't last year.... Vardy is a living legend.... but to go into a PL season with him as your starting striker at 37, is worrying at the very least. Daka scores one in 5 at best and Cannon is unproven.

BTW, if you are seeing vulnerabilities down the wings with your inverted full back... we had that all season last year. I think it's a fundamental weakness in Maresca's approach. lots of our goals came from a quick turnover of play and teams hitting the right wing as there was always acres of space.

you think? our current midfield options are: Hamza Choudhary Boubakary Soumare Harry Winks Wilfred Nididi Bobby De Cordova Reid. Michael Golding Sammy Braybrooke (academy product not had a break through season yet) our attacking options are: Patson Daka Tom Cannon Stephy Mavididi Abdul Fatawu Jamie Vardy (37 and rumours of a career ending injury in pre-season) Will Alves (Academy Product, not had a break through season yet) absolutely no-one see's where our goals are coming from this year. we are currently strongly linked with Jordan Ayew.......... so you are probably right... that should solve all of our issues and see us run teams close for a european place.

you said SQUAD. Not team. Our substitute options were really poor. an ageing Albrighton who couldn't cut it at West Brom the season before. Wanya Marcel-Madivadua, Hamza Choudhary, Kasey Mcacteer, Ben Nelson, (all academy products, but none of them world beaters and will do well to build a championship career at best) Casadei was a failed loan, same as Akgun. Dennis Preat was always injured. our first 11 was good, I'll give you that. But you don't play a 46 game season with the same 11. In my opinion, Leeds certainly had the better squad, I'd argue Southmapton weren't far off and Ipswich were an absolutely anomaly that had no right to be where they finished in terms of squad quality. They didn't sign many players having come up from L1. McKenna is likely to go on and have a strong managerial career in the PL. He was the difference maker for them.

We really didn't. we lost 12 players from the squad that was relegated even before a ball was kicked. this season, we have basically the same squad from the championship, minus KDH.... I think you are all about to see, just how poor that squad is!! lots of us Leicester fans are expecting a Derby County bad kind of season....

Chelsea v Wrexham, (pre-season), Thurs 25th July 24, 03:00 GMT
Maesca's system is REALLY REALLY turgid against a low block, as it isn't dynamic enough to break them down. Once you have teams pressing you in the PL, you are more likely to see quick transitions and overloads in midfield. When it clicks, it can be a thing of beauty and you can tear teams apart in seconds... but when it doesn't, or when teams sit in, it's a game of chess to try to move the players around the create an opening.... you "should" have the squad to do well in the PL this year, Maresca's system is likely to bring you success more often than not... but it definitely isn't exhilarating to watch. Despite winning the championship last year, I don't think i've ever felt more bored watching Leicester. which is a crazy thing to say given our points total!

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - Decent Squad Player
What you'll get with KDH, is an absolute workhorse. He has an incredible engine, but he is also incredibly "one-footed". He will press well and he will make a big nuisance of himself to the opposition, but he isn't overtly creative as a player. Someone further up compared hm to gallagher and I think that's the right comparison, but I'm not convinced he is as good as Gallagher is and although I don't know your squad fantastically well (for fairly obvious reasons, I didn't watch much premier league football last year) I also don't see who he replaces in your team. Maresca plays a Central Pivot next to an inverted full back. He then has a couple of #8's who run into the inside channel. Those 8's will typically underlap the wingers and receive balls on the run. I'd assume that Caciedo would play the Pivot with Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez being the other two.... I don't think KDH displaces any of those 3 regardless of the setup. Which means he's likely to be a squad player at best.... OR, given the volume of games chelsea are likely to have, becomes a solid rotation option. He very much could be the next Drinkwater, albeit, I think he has much more determination and ALOT less off field distractions. He is pretty much the consummate professional.

in short, No. He is entirely ideological in his approach. As Leicester manager he even said that if the fans or club weren't happy with his philosophy then he would walk, as his philosophy is the most important thing of all. His style would have failed in the upcoming season had he remained at Leicester, as we simply didn't / don't have the players required to implement it at a higher level. However, I could see it working at Chelsea. At least in as far as being more competitive than you have in recent seasons. He did improve a number of our players, or at the very least, allowed them to play in a way which maximised their strengths. Expect to see lots of passing (an insane amount of passing) looking to draw the opposition into a press and then quickly playing through that press. You'll have two number 8's that are underlapping the wingers and receiving balls on the move in the box. He managed to make Ndidi look hugely accomplished at running late into the box and causing chaos, which is something none of us thought he was capable of. He also likes to allow some freedom of choice in his attacking players, and to get wingers one vs one, so that they can run at the defender and cut inside. Both Mavididi and Fatawu scored bags of goals this season as a result of that. In general though, his in game management left a lot to be desired and he only ever replaced like to like and the system stayed the same. Where we really struggled was up against teams that chose not to press. His style is based on creating overloads in Midfield and the attacking third. So if teams don't press, then it's difficult to unlock defences as we tended to pass the ball back out to midfield or even the defenders, to try and again encourage a press. It's not an exciting style of football. But it is pragmatic and it will likely pick up a healthy number of points for you. don't expect barnstorming performances that have you all on the edge of your seat. you won't have that at all. Enzo states that he wants control and calm. he hates chaos, so you are unlikely to see any kind of end to end stuff. What we did see last year though was lots of goals after 25, 35 or 45 passes. if you like that, great, you'll have loads of systematic build up play and if the end product has some quality, potentially a decent amount of goals as well. Good Luck for the upcoming season though... I suspect we will be clinging on for dear life to try to avoid relegation.
