Could this be a good thing?

Featured Replies

The news today that we have been punished and can't buy players during the next two transfer windows came as a complete surprise and a shock. Not only to us fans, but it seems that nobody else knew about it - not even Chelsea FC which is quite odd since they surely should have been allowed to have their say in this.

But after the initial shock and anger a thought struck me.

Could this be a good thing?

Transfers are being made every year and no matter if it's old and experienced players or young talents there have been cases of some dodgy dealings. We have been accused of tapping up and even punished for it. Weren't we even fined for having taken Arnesen to our club?

We are not the only club. There have been several cases against many different clubs - both small and big.

Personally I think all transfers should be fair. No team should lure players away and small teams shouldn't lose big money because they are small and big teams are more interesting for young talents.

So maybe this is a step in the right direction. If FIFA and UEFA (I hate them both) really are clamping down on these kind of dealings, then maybe this is a good thing. We are the first, but others might follow. Maybe we can actually have transfers being 100% fair in the future. No tapping up, no money under the table, no bribes, no nothing. Just teams making fair deals with other teams for the players they want.

I might point out that so far I don't know everything about the deal with Kakuta so I can't say for sure just how guilty or innocent we are on this occasion.

What do you all think? Ignore the fact that it's our team. Could this be a good thing?

Nope, it's not a good thing at all, unless you think it's fair to force a player to stay with a club they don't want to be at any more.

If this is part of a sport-wide crusade to clean up the game, and punish everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) then yes, it could be good. I dont want to hear about kids getting exploited by clubs who pluck them from poverty, or getting screwed by dodgy agents who take every time from them.

But since its not part of any concerted movement, and just more lip service from the cabal ruling this game, its not a good thing, its just more of the same.

The only good thing for the club, potentially, is having to play Stoch, Woods, Mancienne, Cork, etc as a matter of necesscity now.
