just occured to me how he escaped with just a warning for saying '12 men' to the camera after utd's defeat to chelsea...a public rant and blatant accusation toward the ref...ok didier's against ovrebo was slightly more crude as it involved the f word, but the sentiment was the same...uefa banned our man for three games...rooney gets nothing...and people think chelsea fans are paranoid for thinking our club gets treated differently from everyone else

I think because Drogs verbal rant was in such a heated encounter and the impact it created started immediately it was an opportunity for the media to get the knives out .

I didnt actually see the Rooney incident until Monday night , i was too busy on cloud 9. and it wasnt highlighted on either MOTD or Sky after the game so no huge fuss then . Big difference between Drogba and the darling of the British sports media.

I agree. And lets not forget that Bosingwa got banned as well and Rooneys comments was about as bad as his.

On the other hand I guess one could argue that it's two different federations. The FA and UEFA is two different ones. Both are bad, but maybe FA is slightly "nicer" than UEFA.

But then again, Rooney plays for ManU and that means alot. Now that Ferguson got a ban I guess they felt that they really couldn't ban another person from ManU.

We'll have to wait until next season for another possible ban for ManU.

i think the key is that rooney plays for england...the fa won't want to pi*s off our best player ahead of world cup...or heaven forbid, the money generator that is brazil v england
