Posted September 30, 201113 yr http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/cup-tie-no-deterrent-for-20m-chelsea-target-report Pretty slim pickings in terms of sources, I think it got a quick reference in the Guardian and the Mirror but no real strong ties. Despite it probably being a pipe dream (the price tag seems particularly optimistic) this would be an interesting one and I would certainly be open to seeing something like this happen. What do you all think?
September 30, 201113 yr Too similar to Ramires for me and not really the type of player we need. We have plenty of midfielders who can make a tackle and get box to box but we need a little more craft and guile. Now if Ozil were available...
October 1, 201113 yr It's from Martin Lipton in the Mirror. It's tenuous enough, given he had a minor run in with Mourinho. Myself I think this would probably be a signal that we're moving to more of a 4-2-3-1 with a double pivot of Khedira and Ramires. He'd provide a bit more cover in the air for us, which is an area we're a bit weaker in with Drogba more of a rotation and Bosingwa prefered at RB. He's a good player but has always been more functional with Alonso and Schweinsteiger next to him to do the real creating. Not sure that is what we're requiring in midfield, he's really not that much of an improvement over Mikel in my view, he has a similar game. Short simple passes, perhaps a bit more dynamic with his movement but not enough to justify 20m.
