Guest RFC_CFC Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 So the seasons over and for the first time in a while we have left empty handed from the campaign…sounds bleak when it’s put like this however I’s fair to say strides have been made in moving Chelsea FC forward again. Jose came in last summer with the message that he is here to build a new Chelsea team for many years to come and there was nothing any Blue wanted to hear more than those words. So what does this season show us and Jose about where we are at? We made it to a CL semi final a year after not getting through the group stages which shows huge improvements. We took the title race down to the last few weeks…again huge improvements over previous seasons when we were out the race months before the trophy was lifted. The cups have been hit and miss but they usually are while we took the ‘supposed best team’ in Europe to pens after coming seconds away from the win. One of our problems in years gone by was our performance and results against the teams we were fighting with for the title…again this season we overcame that in extraordinary fashion by being undefeated against United, Arsenal, Liverpool and City in the league while beating the latter two home and away! If you said this at the start of the season we would be dreaming of another title surely? Sadly our real problem was one we didn’t think much about as we were seeing of the toughest teams and getting points on the board however our inefficiency to break down sides like Norwich, West Ham, Palace, Stoke ect was our real Achilles heel. A lack of creativity and firepower saw the groundwork we made fall away and we came up short in the end. If you said that at the start of the season then maybe we would have said “Ok, that sounds about right due to our strikeforce..†In some ways I feel we overachieved in a sense during the season as many of us feel we had a real chance of the title and blew it against teams we should be beating…yes in a way true however is it not a remarkable achievement we took it this far with the striker situation? We are still a work in progress in many ways with players here that will be moved on in the next month or so while 2 or 3 important players come in. The way I see it we have done all of the above in second gear with a vital few clogs in the machine missing…think what we can achieve when everything falls into place?! So who knows…this time next year Roman we will be Champ….
Bobbywoodhogan Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I'd say we're a force in the league again and if we the right improvements I think we'll win it next season
Jonty Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 If we don't win at least one trophy next season i'll be extremely surprised, we've come so close on so many fronts this season and with Matic here for a whole season and hopefully an improved strikeforce, there is no reason why we can't go the extra yard.
