Chelsea vs Maribor Performance

Featured Replies

In the first half Chelsea looked labored and didn't seem like they wanted to score a goal. They wouldn't break quick enough to pose a threat. Against opposition like Maribor, Chelsea should be winning by at least 3 goals. Mourinho talked about how he wants his team to respect the opposition and believe it will be a tough game. However I don't think this helps as the team had too much respect and tried to break them down like an Arsenal or City. I think he should be telling his team to be ruthless and make them believe that they will win every game. I do take into account that that adds complacency but making them respect the oppositon isnt working and almost caused a slip up against Shrewsbury last week

I honestly think the players are afraid to shoot. I mean, even for the penalty it looked like Eden wanted the penalty more than finishing the shot. We would win by such greater margins if we actually had enough confidence to shoot. And although we scored from a corner, our set pieces are revolting to watch.

All I was thinking watching it last night was "Basel home and away", it was basically the same performance, do nothing for 70 minutes for no reason. Isn't our away record in the CL mediocre?
