rtwelch
Just wondering if there is a testimonial planned for JT & Lamps & whether it'll be the same game? Is it normal practice to wait until a player is retired before holding the testimonial as well?I don't think JT will leave this year so we could be waiting a while but was presuming they'd do it together. Scott
It will be two separate games for sure. Lamps will prolly be versus Bolton in 2018 and JT's against Glasgow Rangers in 2019.
offside
I have mixed feelings about testimonial games for one single player. I'm sure all these players would say that their accomplishments were a team effort, not something they did on their own. What about a testimonial game every 10 years for all our great players who had retired from the game during the previous 10 years. In American and Canadian sports leagues, the athletes choose any 1 or 2 digit shirt number they want (Robert Parish the great basketball player wore number 00 ), and they retire the numbers of their great players. It usually happens in a ceremony about 10 years after the player retires. That wouldn't work in football because the numbers actually signify something. I imagine Terry's 26 will go down the same route
