June 7, 201610 yr I don't really get this sentiment from the players we are after they aren't exactly cheap or low level team players. We are heavily linked with Morata who is going to cost £40-50m, or Lukaku for a similar if not more inflated fee. On midfielders, it has been touted by the papers all though whilst unlikely that we are aiming to bid £80m for Pogba. Naingollan and Pjanic would cost around the £30m mark as well as Kante who was one of the players of last season, its not like the standard of players we have been chasing has dropped. Whether we get these or not is a different matter, but I would say we have solely been aiming at a lower tier of players. Yes there have been some really weird transfer rumours like Gyan, Benteke and Ayew but when in silly season is there not random rumours that don't really add up, we are going to be linked with players left, right and centre because of the season we have just had and I wouldn't use it to judge whether or not the club is showing ambition. Good that you bring up Morata. He has never scored 10 league goals in a season ever. If this was 2005, we wouldnt have bothered to know his name. Also, If you really think we are going to bid 80m for Pogba then its just sad for you. Never going to happen just accept it. Our budget is in the £30m range. We wouldnt get Pjanic's pinky toe for that money. He is a £50m player, we are not in for him. Naingollan is the sort of 3rd to 4th tier player that we are aiming for. Anyways, I am not complaining as Roman does not owe us anything. I am just saying that we are not top dogs anymore and the sooner the fans realise it the better it would be. The times of winning a trophy every year are long gone.
June 7, 201610 yr We are sadly now London's 4th team, the other three have European football next season and within next two years will have vastly larger grounds and playing in front of bigger crowds, if not careful we will be in londons second tier of clubs!!! Palace, Fulham, wall, and Charlton, ah the good old days! We got out Chelsea back!!

Palace, Fulham, wall, and Charlton, ah the good old days! We got out Chelsea back!! Oh please! More trophies than any other English club in the last 10/11 years and the only English club to win a European trophy this decade (winning both!!) Do me a favour!
June 8, 201610 yr Your sounding like a scouser, wonderful as the last ten years have been and we will never forget them, that is now history, football goes in cycles, and we can't deny the evidence that was shown last season, I hope I'm wrong, but as the fsw once said FACT, we will be in a smaller ground with less crowds in the next two years, and team wise at present we can't deny we are behind the other three at present. Horrible thought, but let's embrace it, its character building for our younger fan base!

Palace, Fulham, wall, and Charlton, ah the good old days! We got out Chelsea back!! After ONE, yes ONE bad season we go from first to fourth... Are you serious !!!!! As for comparing the responder to a scouser, far too melodramatic as well as being incorrect. The scousers are talking about stuff nearly 30yrs ago, were only talking about ONE season, surely as a football fan you're allowed to 'bathe' in recent glory's ???. We sit at a crossroads that's fair to say, but we aren't on some slippery slope (that would take a few trophyless years to be verified) and we certainly aren't the fourth best club in any other category than last seasons league position, as the other three won f**k all either. The less said about us being in the same boat as Charlton etc is just utterly ridiculous whilst Roman is the owner of the club. PS: My post isn't meant to be personal or insulting fella, but you're 'project fear' scenario makes the 'remain campaign's' spiel look positively optimistic !!

Yeah things are bad but not that bad. spuds and west ham are not getting ahead of us anytime soon. arsenal will race past us though if we continue with this scattergun transfer approach. We should be looking to buy 2 great players rather than 4-5 mediocre players.
